Removing the Rear Seats

Hi All,

Can anyone describe how to remove the backs of the two rear seats? The seats came out easily and I hope there is a similar mechanism for the backs, but I can not find it.

Why, I hear you ask? I'm taking the seats out to make extra storage for my big trip.

Thanks for any advice.

Dino.

Re: Removing the Rear Seats

Dino,

Is there a real need to remove the back part of the seat. When flipped forward, they make an ideal flat base to store your gear on. If you remove the seats, then it will not be flat. Just a thought, but I guess you have your reasons.

Re: Removing the Rear Seats

Kev, Thank you very much for the page. I must get one of these manuals one day. Much appreciated.

Brett, I'm going to build in a shelf that I can store things under as well. I'll still have the flat surface and be able to store a few things out of sight. May also put the second battery in behind the drivers seat on the floor to protect it. But this is all just for my trip. When that's over the seats can go back in.

Thanks again guys,

Dino

Re: Removing the Rear Seats

Hi Dino
Very interested in your wanting to take your rear seats out. Last long trip in 2007 to Gulf and back home via the Simpson and Chambers Pillar we had the rear seat out and next trip I intend removing the back as well and building a forward front floor to take a water bladder in the floor well and a shelf to carry recovery gear, tools and spares . My Turbo Tent will sits crossways on the top shelf. The seat back does take up a lot of room and it is extra weight I don,t require. Have just finished building a rear wheel carrier to get second spare off roof rack and also fitted a long range tank to get fuel off rack as well. Have you made your floor yet, I would be interested in seeing the result. Black Widow make them but not for Exy,s and they are very exy!
