Re: Rear storage shelf option.

Brett, you might be needing the rear bumper/tailgate protector flap thing I saw advertised in Nissan Service Dept last time I was there. I was going to pick one up so Clare doesn't scratch the rear bumper to buggery when she drags the pram out of the boot (obviously later in the year, after we've had the baby of course).

Re: Rear storage shelf option.

The only thing I didn`t like about the rear bumper protector was the fact that it had to be drilled and screwed into the bar and the sales dude said he had one put on his and wishes he hadn`t. But everyone has their own opinion. Thats the reason why I didn`t get it.

I felt exactly the same when I realised that if something happened to the factory bumper protector, I might face the possibility of having the whole bumper replaced because of it. I tried removing one of these factory bumper protectors from a bumper I scored for free and it was stuck in place so hard, that when removed, the whole upper edge of the bumper was completely scratched and damaged.

BUT, there are alternatives to the factory bumper scuff plate and we have them HERE.

Not only they look nicer, they aren't so destructive like the factory one and MUCH cheaper too emoticon

The stick on bumper scuff plates are excellent. I just bought one and it isn't going anywhere. The tape is really good.

Re: Rear storage shelf option.

I must be mistaken... I thought the one I saw in Nissan Service Dept that was being advertised on sale (at special March price of 15 or 20% off?) was one that fits INSIDE the boot and you flip it over the bumper when you need to use it...

Might have to check that to make sure I'm not going crazy.

Sorry to go off topic.

Re: Rear storage shelf option.

You must be talking about the bumper bib then Rich. You can get something similar from any supercheap store or just use an old piece of carpet emoticon

Image

All this bib is, piece of padded plastic with velcro to attach to the carpet mat in the boot.

Taxi drivers use them to protect the back of their cars from people lifting luggage in - of course this would also help the resale value on a car that does nearly a million kilometers in 6 years.
