I felt exactly the same when I realised that if something happened to the factory bumper protector, I might face the possibility of having the whole bumper replaced because of it. I tried removing one of these factory bumper protectors from a bumper I scored for free and it was stuck in place so hard, that when removed, the whole upper edge of the bumper was completely scratched and damaged.
BUT, there are alternatives to the factory bumper scuff plate and we have them HERE.
Not only they look nicer, they aren't so destructive like the factory one and MUCH cheaper too

You must be talking about the bumper bib then Rich. You can get something similar from any supercheap store or just use an old piece of carpet
All this bib is, piece of padded plastic with velcro to attach to the carpet mat in the boot.
