Weird Noise When Braking

Recently i've noticed a kind of metal clunking noise coming from the back of the car when i press the brake.

It doesn't occur all the time, every now and again.

Has anybody had this kind of problem??

Kind of confused as to what it could be considering it doesn't happen all the time.

More info please, emoticon

How old is your exy and what miles have you done?

Perhaps updating your signature now with some details of you exy could be a good idea emoticon

What age are your brake pads?

Does the clunk happen between reversing and driving forward or driving forward then reversing ?
Somewhere else on the forum I remember someone earlier having this and it turned out to be the loose pads in the calipers moving backwards & forwards each time the Exy changed direction.

Re: Weird Noise When Braking

Kev,
I have currently got the condition aswell which you mentioned in your last post. After backing out of the driveway then travelling forward a clicking noise seems to come from the rear wheels(as you described).
Sounds logical as brakes would be the only thing to be affected by directional change.

Due to have 30k service in the next few weeks so i will put this on the list for Nissan to check. emoticon

100% definitely positively the rear pads moving in the caliper. mine have been quiet since i replaced them with ebc greens and a generous amount of anti-squeal goop..

Had the same problem when I bought mine.

Took it to the dealer under warranty and they replaced the anti-rattle paste. Seem to remember they had a service bulletin on it, was no problem in any case.

Re: Weird Noise When Braking

Yep, I get this weird metal clunk from my from left wheel when I brake sometimes.

Was geing to get the dealer to have a look at the next service, in like 800km.

It is pretty annoying in stop start traffic
