Hopefully not Brett, if it is the butterfly screws, we will all support you on this and ensure you don't pay a cent!

Re: SERIOUS loss of power ???
Brett,
Read my post HERE
I think your fears will soon be realized with this problem and it is now a matter of how long it will take your local dealer to REPLACE the engine, rather than (if it needs replacing)
The damage was done!
Good luck to you mate and you should stand your ground on this issue and insist that it should be covered by Nissan Australia, who are aware of it. There could be NO other causes for the butterfly screws to go loose, other than an assembling defect by not applying loctite and no mod you have done could have caused this!

Re: SERIOUS loss of power ???
After many phonecalls and email exchanges between Jalal, Nissan Australia and my local Orange dealer (stealer), they have decided on a band-aid solution to fix my problem. The engine wont be replaced. The repair will consist of new butterfly valves, locktited screws (all 8) and a new gasket.
Although they acknowledge there is some serious pitting in #1 chamber, I am told this is the suitable fix. And after all this, no-one is prepared to tell me whether it is a warranty repair or not. Talk about passing the buck. Additionally, they wont even supply me with a loan car.
As we are aware, Deb(debdorro) had a similar problem, where the same band-aid solution was completed. End result, new engine required several months later and more time without a car. I am not prepared to go this path and intend to fight this with Nissan on Monday.
So stay tuned, the fight is not over. A big thanks to Jalal for all his efforts on getting us this far.
Starting to think that Nissan may be concerned if this fault keeps appearing, then it will be a VERY EXPENSIVE recall.
I now regret not taking the trade-in for the Mazda CX-7 last month.
