Re: 2008 X-TRAIL IS HERE!!!!!
Jamie,
I think we will be quite happy with the ride height at 200mm simply because of the fact that they have finally addressed the bulky muffler issue and re-positioned it to a more logical spot. This fact alone would improve the ground clearance as well departure angles.

Re: 2008 X-TRAIL IS HERE!!!!!
Hi Guys,
Well i must admit until last week i thought the Xtrail in its current chunky styling was a thing of the past, but to my surprize and delight i was wrong.
Of coarse Nissan has done the right thing and listened to owners, to hopefully make the next generation even more attractive.
So far it's sounds like it will be great, especially if it can break the diesel version into the market. Lets hope those small nigling issues such as the overheating of the 4wd system which some of us have experienced are in the past.
As Jalal has informed us the specs will become reality soon. With the extra body size, a kerb weight of around 1550 Kg may not inhibit performance too much. Just have to hang out until we see the specs.
Cheers
Johnsey

Re: 2008 X-TRAIL IS HERE!!!!!
Hi Guys,
Was looking a bit more closely at the pics of the new exy and noticed 2 things which I don't like.
Have a look at the exposed section of the radiator which will be a magnet for stones and rocks. It seems that the owners of the new exy would need to do some DIY with front radiator protection as soon as they buy one (just like we did)
The other thing I don't like that much is the tiny fender signal indicators. They look too small and don't go too well with the size of the car.
I'm not sure if they have kept the rims at 16" or decided to up-size them a bit to 17". It is hard to tell from the photos, but the design of the alloys is not that great (eye-catching) either.

The departure angle also looks pretty poor with the lower sitting rear.
Brett, I couldn't help myself so I tried to picture the situation where the towbar is attached to the new exy and look what will happen!!!
I sure do hope that Nissan didn't eliminate the previous lowest point on the exy (muffler) and create a new one (towbar)

Re: 2008 X-TRAIL IS HERE!!!!!
Definately not looking too good there with that plough hanging down like that.
The back end looks lower to the ground than the current model, have to compare specs as they come to hand.
Maybe increasing ride height by 50mm or so could help a little.
Hope this photo is distorted, can't believe a design error like this. 8(
