Can you book me in for July, when I am up your way.
Does that mean you're getting your exhaust system project finished by then?
If this is the case, I will be more than happy to put my mind to the TB mod for sure, but I want you to experience and enjoy the power increase associated with the headers and cat upgrade first and ONLY then discuss any other power mods
From personal experience I doubt you'll be looking for something more in terms of power and if you do, you won't be driving an exy

Re: Throttle body spacer
OK Brett,
You now got my FULL attention with the TBS (Throttle Body Spacer) and I have researched a bit more and this included reading about 28 pages on a forum where a manufacturer has made this spacer for all sorts of engines from scratch and was selling the idea/product to members of the forum.
It was interesting to read how he got bagged from every possible corner UNTIL a month or so later he posted the dyno charts showing the effects of this spacer in terms of HP and Torque gains.
The results came back unbelievably high and they were so high that even the manufacturer himself was astonished and mesmerized as how could a little spacer like this produce these result.
The reported gain as after 3 dyno runs (with and without the spacer) came back with 9HP gain!!!!
Now I thought this guy was either dreaming or posting dyno charts of a Ferrari instead of a Sentra Spec-V, so the orders started flowing from other members and I started reading their personal reviews and feedback once they got the TBS fitted and most of them provided positive feedback (no dyno charts to back it up though) and most of them reported better acceleration and low end torque gain.
It is worth noting that all of the guys who purchased the TBS had either a CAI or the extractors (or both) fitted in their engine, so these results may not be noticeable at all with a stock engine set-up.
Anyway, I got curious and I feel that we may have bagged a gadget before actually trying it out and experiencing the results ourselves, so with this in mind, I wont rest until I test it and see for myself.
Once this is done, we will be able to provide first hand reviews about it without relying on what others have said in their reviews.
It could well turn out to be another Hiclone, but at least I would personally feel satisfied that we have tried it and proved it wrong (or otherwise)
It is selling for around US$90 shipped (I think) and am gonna go a head and order one just for fun
Here is how it looks

Re: Throttle body spacer
Yeah, not sure where to start with the dyno as I would love to know how much gain is there from the CAI, but I know its there for sure.
We'll see how it goes and I'll report back.

Re: Throttle body spacer
Kev,
You're comparing a power gain at the wheels to the factory reading of 132KW which is not correct. At the wheels, the KW reading is much less than 132KW for a stock exy.
The power gain (at the wheels) will therefore be more than 4.3%

Re: Throttle body spacer
Good stuff Brett, but remember that this gadget is good and MAY show results if you have either a CAI or the extractors or BOTH. You still need to keep your eyes set on reaching that target before implementing any further power mods.

Re: Throttle body spacer
OK Guys,
I got it touch with the manufacturer and he was very pleased to hear from Australia and was very helpful to me to secure a TBS.
In the process of ordering one for myself, I managed to convince another member of the admin team to take the fall and be the 3rd person to conduct the TBS test
You will be in a position to read 3 independent reviews from 3 forum members when we get a chance to test this gadget. This will give you a pretty good picture of its impacts on performance.
The test cars will be as follows:
1. Mine, which is Auto with the full exhaust system replacement and a CAI.
2. Brett, with a Manual exy and a Cat Back system.
3. Noel, with a Manual exy and the full exhaust system replacement and a pod filter set-up.
It would have been good to test it on a stock exy as well but we can do that later.
