Re: Major Changes (Forum Structure Changed)
Guys,
It seems to be working for me perfectly and this is how I see it.
If I go the new post directly from an email notification (which is what I do most of the time as I monitor nearly all threads) then when I finish reading the new reply, I click on the main page of the forum through the forum structure link (top left corner of the page). If I see a NEW icon against a forum, this means that there are still new replies which I haven't red in that forum. Once I finish reading all new replies, I go back to the main forum page using the structure link and this time now NEW icons are displayed.
I don't need to refresh at all.
If I am in main forum page view I click the "Australian X-Trail Forum Link" to pick-up any new replies and posts. I find this is much better than refreshing the whole web page.
I NEVER use the back button to navigate around the forum, as this has its disadvantages, especially when posting a reply.

Re: Major Changes (Forum Structure Changed)
I find it much quicker to go back using the back button, so if for example there are four new posts when I open the forum, I use the back button for the first three, then the title for the last one which clears the signs (the column on the left changes to narrow so I don't have to scroll down to check) then hit "Mark Forum as Read"
Probably all due to my dated system, but it still does all I bought it for quite well.
I did find it a little easier when there was less at the top of the page and I didn't have to scroll quite so much.

Re: Major Changes (Forum Structure Changed)
Does anyone else dislike the new signature area with the scroll-bar? It seems like a real step back. Or is it just me?
Edited: I've just checked back on and it seems to have gone back to the "old" style.

Re: Major Changes (Forum Structure Changed)
Hi Steve,
This change was announced HERE
It is meant to be disliked by members to get you guys to conform with the max allowable width and height of your signatures to bring them back to the standard size which will prevent excessive scrolling for others.
But I have now temporarily disabled the limitation of the signature height and only applied to the width of the signature.
If however I notice that members will start to use huge pics in their signatures which are far too large in height, I will implement this restriction to the signature height as well which will have the signatures inside these scrolling bar boxes until members change them.
If that wouldn't work, then I can further modify the code to force the offending signatures being cropped, so members won't even see scrolling bars, but will see their signatures chopped.
