Expressions of interest - South West Queensland Road Trip

Thanks to a reply from Rustee during the Queensland Photo Shoot Preparations,

quote:

I am now thinking of doing a shorter trip out to charleville, longreach, emerald, rocky then down the coast to Brissy just to see how the kids go on the trip

I started looking at this trip as a possible trip for myself.

I have finally decided that I will do this trip with my son (12) for a ‘Father and Son – Road Trip’ and have finalised the dates. The reason I am posting this is that if anyone else is free on these dates and would like to join us, we would be more than happy for the company.

This is the proposed itinerary: January 15th - January 20th

Depart Brisbane 4am Monday 15th January – Destination Charleville
(Stops along the way – undecided)
Camp overnight at campground/caravan park – Bailey Caravan Park
Do tourist things

Depart Charleville Tuesday 16th January – Destination Longreach
(Stops along the way – undecided)
Camp for 2 nights – Gunnadoo Caravan Park and Cabins
Do tourist things , Qantas Museum, Stockman’s hall of fame, Flying Doctors museum

Depart Longreach Thursday 18th January – Destination Rockhampton
(Stops along the way – Emerald)
Camp overnight at campground/caravan park – Tropical Wanderers Resort
Do tourist things

Depart Rockhampton Friday 19th January – Destination Town of Seventeen seventy
(Stops along the way – undecided)
Camp overnight at campground/caravan park – Captain Cook Holiday Villiage
Do tourist things

Depart Town of Seventeen seventy Saturday 20th January – Destination home
(Stops along the way – undecided)
Drop into bed and vow not to get into the car for a week!

Estimates on the length of the trip come out to about 2,380kms

Average cost of campsites along the way is $25-35 for powered sites if anyone is interested in bringing a caravan, less for non powered tent sites. No booking made as yet, if unavailable, I will look for somewhere else to stay.

As far as I can tell it is all sealed roads the whole journey, the longest trip is from Brisbane to Charleville and Longreach to Rockhampton.

This is a basic plan that I have set up to suit myself but if anyone wants to come along, I am more than happy to hear suggestions, consider options and make some changes, my only limitations are that I have to be back in Brisbane by Saturday 20th sometime in the evening.

So, if you are free and feel like joining us for this trip, let me know.

Can you factor in a soak at the artesian baths at Mitchell or Blackall.
I'm going back to Darwin next year and if i don't go to Cairns first i may just join you.
Cheers
