A shovel will be a good idea.

Re: Stockton Beach Trip - Early 2007

Guys,

We are still keen on hitting Stockton, but I am a little nervous of getting bogged AGAIN and watching the stockies float past me. I may have to get some bridgestone tyres for the trip. emoticon

I will have a compressor for reinflating the tyres before driving out, a shovel for digging myself out whilst the rest of the group sit back and laugh, a car mounted UHF and also a several hand-held units should anybody want one, a extensive recovery kit and plenty of beers.

Are we intending on entering via Lavers Lane or north Stockton. There is a chance I will be coming from nearby Maitland, bringing the 'trouble and strife' and two children aged 3 and 8. Are any other kids coming.

 Looking forward to catching up.

Don't feel too bad as at least you wont be the only one becoming bogged with the BFG's!

I believe the Lavers (Lavis?) Lane is notorious for bogging X-Trails, so we should use the Anna Bay entrance (correct me if I am wrong and these are the same entrance!).

No kids from us emoticon

You asked to be corrected if wrong Lavis lane is at Williamtown, Anna Bay is different and along way to go to get to the same place

True Matt,
You could get a car on the beach at Anna bay if you were desperate

Re: Stockton Beach Trip - Early 2007

I believe Stockton Beach itself is about 37km long, so the Anna bay entrance would be approximately that distance further north of the Lavis Lane entrance.

So long as we have a lifted X-Trail in front of a standard-height one, then at least we'll be able to pull each other out emoticon If having just one X-Trail stuck is going to cause "real" 4WD'ers to hassle us, then the last thing we want to do is have a handful of X-Trails holding up the big boys! Matt, did you happen to lower your tyre pressures before you drove down Lavis Lane?

Re: Stockton Beach Trip - Early 2007

I think we should think like a small baitfish being hounded by the sharks, stick together and let the weekest take one for the team. emoticon

If that fails, I'll pack the Glock. emoticon

Just checked the tides for the 6th and it appears we have a king tide of 1.77m at 0957 and then a good low of 0.31 at 1640.

Lavis Lane is a better option, considering its proximity to the dunes and also the Signa is about 24km from the north entrance, therefore only 12km from Lavis.

How about meeting at the main servo at the start of Lavers Lane (where you can also pick up our permits), mid morning.

 IMPORTANT EDIT:
Just received a return call from the local quad bike club at Stockton and they are holding a Meet on the 6/7/8 Jan, basing themselves at Lavis Lane. Approx 200-300 quads and others will be using the area. Something to consider, knowing how busy Lavis Lane gets at the best of times. It may pay to head to the northern Anna Bay entrance and drive out via Lavis Lane in the afternoon when the crowds have thinned.

Re: Stockton Beach Trip - Early 2007

What is the main problem which gets the Exy stuck on Lavis lane ?
Is it the softness of the sand or the depth of the tyre ruts ?
With that many quads running around, the tyre ruts will probably be non-existant.
