Re: Stockton Beach Trip - Early 2007

emoticon Sorry Guys, I will not be able to make it down for this date as I have to drop my son off at the Cruise terminal.

He is going for a seven day cruise with his mother - lucky kid!

I hope you get a good turnout for the trip and have a great day. emoticon

Haha yes that's right i mean January...

That sounds like a good idea for the Sydney guys to meet where you mentioned.

So who is in besides me and Naff at this stage? The more xtails we get the more fun we'll have and the better we'll look all driving together on the highway and beach!

Cheers
Matt

It is only 40 minutes from the start of the F3 to the Mini/BMW garage. A good/easy meeting place before jumping on the F3 is on the Old Pacific Highway around Cowan or Berowra. You can get on the F3 earlier... but for a meet place as suggested, just travel through Hornsby to Berowra.

Rest of the suggestions are great to me. Can count me in at this stage.

Hi all

Just a quick question, will the stock Exy tyres be fine for the trip or do you need something with more tread.

thanks
Matt

Matt,

The last (and only time) I have been to Stockton, I was running with the factory 15" Toyo's and they were absolutely fine.

I am actually more worried about A/T type of tyres which will trap sand in them and make them heavier to move.

Hi Guys,

A couple of advices for sand driving.

To all of you running with the K&N filter, it'll be better if you replace it with the stock paper filter.

Place a stocking over the factory intake, as sand will get everywhere and this includes the factory filter box.

Tyre pressure needs to be dropped to 13-14psi

Shovel is a MUST for everyone. Radio communication is also very important for anyone tackling a sand dune. Someone needs to be at the top to give the all clear.

The A/T tyres bite into the sand more, rather than "float" on top of the sand. I didn't lower tyre pressures when I went to Kurnell (I may have posted this info in the "sand driving" or "kurnell" threads (do a search), so I guess I didn't really test the A/T properly to compare them with the factory tyres, but without lowering the pressure in the factory tyres, they still performed very well. I was getting bogged alot easier when I put the A/T tyres on. Going to Stockton will give me the opportunity to lower the pressures in the A/T tyres and see if they perform any better than without lowering the pressures.

I've pencilled the date in my diary...

Re: Stockton Beach Trip - Early 2007

Hey guys

Just made the big move - i have very limited access to the internet. Just wanted to confirm who is still interested in the stockton trip on 6 Jan?

Also, have people thought about meeting points? I suggest we do what has been previously mentioned (Sydney guys meeting before/after the f3 and then meeting the CC people at the BMW garage just off the highway - gosford turn off).

Let me know. Merry xmas everyone

Cheers
Matt

Is it still set down for the 6th. I may be able to make it, just depends on how the wife is travelling (recent back surgery). Are we entering via Lavers Lane or the north end of the beach.
