Re: Expressions of interest - Queensland Tag-A-Long Tour

O.K guys, final details for the tag-a-long tour. emoticon

quote:

Details are:

Meet at the Stanthorpe tourist information center Leslie parade at 8:30am 2 1/2 + from Brisbane.
Take the Stanthorpe exit off the new England H/way & find the information center at the southern end of town.

From the north go through the main st then continue across the bridge & the info center is first st on the left (Leslie pde) at the corner.

From the south it is just as you approach the bridge on the right.

There is a large park with a lagoon & amenities so you can't miss it.

Tour will conclude at Tenterfield 3 + hrs to Brisbane.

Fuel - Top up at Stanthorpe so please plan to arrive with time to do this. No fuel should be needed until the end of trip at Tenterfield.

Water - Bring drinking water only for the two days.

Food - you will need breakfast Sunday plus two lunches & any munchies etc

Clothes - The days should be pleasant, however it is possible to experience cool nights in this part of the world so bring something just in case.Bring wet weather gear. Snakes are very active this year so please wear covered foot wear, preferably something that you can stand getting dirty/ maybe even muddy.

Weather/conditions. - This area has had reasonable rain so things are looking green. Any rain during or just prior to the trip will ensure muddy & slippery conditions in a couple of spots so there will be some options used if this is the case.

This is high plateau country with wetlands & some dense forest with leeches that will come out when the ground is wet so please check your boots etc regularly & keep an eye on the kids. We will provide some repellent

Camp site - You will need basic sleeping arrangements only. tent & mattress / sleeping bags ?

Flush toilets, hot showers, shelter & camp kitchen are available.

We look forward to meeting you

cheers

Bob & Marian

If you have any questions or concerns, please voice them now so that I have plenty of time to raise them with Bob or Marian.

I will probably drive to Stanthorpe on Friday night and get a room so I don't have to drive the 2 or so hours in the morning as I will have the two boys with me. If anyone else is planning this, maybe we can get together for a nightcap.

Still room for a couple more if anyone is interested?????

Re: Expressions of interest - Queensland Tag-A-Long Tour

Hey guys,

I just received confirmation of payment from the tour operators and a special request.

Bob & Marian wrote

quote:

Hi Jamie,
Thank you for that. It should be a great weekend.

We have access to a property that has an old smelter chimney on it. The owners have a restoration fund happening and asking for individual donations. We ask that perhaps a $5 donation from each vehicle on the day be put towards the restoration fund. The Tenterfield historical society said they will match $ for $ with all donations made. Hoping every one will be able to help as it is definitely worth preserving.

Look forward to meeting with you all
Cheers
Bob and Marian

A worthy cause I think, I just thought it was better to prepare you instead of hitting you with it on the day.

Hi Jamie,

It is a worthy cause indeed and I would like to let you guys know that the Australian X-Trail Forum will pay for this donation on your behalf from the forum kitty we have previously set a side as part of the raffles.

Jamie: Can you please let me know the final number of participants/vehicles in your event (was it 5 or 6) and I will arrange to have $25 or $30 transferred to your account straight away.
