New SA High Range Club 1st outing

The first outing of the proposed SA High Range 4WD/AWD Club took place today (2/9/06).
It was sponsored by the Northern 4WD Club as the new club is not officially up & running yet.
We met at the Big Rocking Horse at Gumeracha where we had an introductory briefing. I think there were 10 Northern 4WD club vehicles & 10 prospective SA High Range club members (including 3? X-trails). Cuffs was the trip leader & led off the convoy along the North East Road to just past Tunkillo where we turned onto some dirt roads & tracks & had some good views from the top of the Adelaide Hills across the Murray River plains.
We travelled on to our BBQ stop at Towitta via Saunderston Gorge & Pine Hut Road (used in many car rallies over the years).
After lunch, Cuffs & other members of the Northern Club gave advice on recovery gear, then a photo shoot of all the cars lined up & most of the participants, before the journey back to the Big Rocking Horse, via some more scenic back roads & farmer's padocks (surrounded by some friendly sheep who thought they might be getting some feed from 20 four wheel drives).
A fairly gentle introduction so not to scare any newcomers away & a way to see some areas you wouldn't find driving on your own.
We hope the club gets going & we will meet & see some more Exys & their drivers around SA.

Re: New SA High Range Club 1st outing

Good stuff Dave.

Look forward to seeing some pics of this event so we can then collect all group photos and display them on the site.
