I had one friend miss out because his near new Defender was having some issues sorted out at the dealer. He has suggested he wanted to do the same track in September so I'll let everyone know if it is a goer. Des suggested we try a night or two away around Fraser which I think is a great idea. I have never been there but after doing some beach driving around Stradbroke and Moreton ealier this year I would be keen to try another island. My wife and I had intended to go around October with our two young children. Jamie: I haven't seen my brother in-law (60-Series Landcruiser) since the weekend but it was his camera I was snapping away with. I'll try catch up with him this weekend and post some pics of the day. I am glad you had a good day because I certainly did and enjoy seeing the X-Trails getting around some pretty rugged places. Our trip was out of the 'Dirty Weekend' book and starting from Daybro we made our way towards Woodford. We thought for awhile we were going to have to recover one of the lancruisers but unfortunately one of the EXY's come a cropper and needed some help on the last hill of the day. We have done this track at Mt Mee before and one section A Break is red in the book and really challenged the Xtrails but we all got there in the end. It is a bit eroded since the last trip as well so we had to be on our toes. The Ford Explorer driver was on his maiden run off road and as nervous as he was at the start of the day, he took on every challenge and pulled through and thoroughly enjoyed himself as did everyone else. A great day, thanks Danny for organising this and looking forward to the next trip. Tony and Lloyd, if you would like to PM me with your email address, I will send you an email next time we plan something, that goes the same for anyone else who may want to be included in future trips. To quote Danny on the day - quote:I am constantly amazed at what the Xtrails can do I did not get many pics on the day (Sorry Des & Bev) hopefully Danny may be able to follow up with a few if he can get time to post a trip report. I was pleased to be able to look at the 'home made' snorkel set up on Des's car but this left me cursing that I am not as handy as that so I could give it a go, well done - great job Des. It was an absolute pleasure meeting all the new faces and hope to meet all of you again, real soon. nondisclosed_email@example.com (BlackThunda)Thu, 10 Aug 2006 21:43:32 +0000 Re: Brisbane X-trail 4X4 runhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p882048,from=rss#post882048https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p882048,from=rss#post882048Teach me too! - though the date did not suit either, I would be interested in another trip or details of the route would be great. Have taken the EXY up duck creek road to o'reilly's and tried around mt nebo but couldn't get any where. Am keen to try more easy dirt.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Tony0)Thu, 10 Aug 2006 20:48:03 +0000 Re: Brisbane X-trail 4X4 runhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p882047,from=rss#post882047https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p882047,from=rss#post882047quote:lac510 wrote: By the way, is the runboard site suppose to send you an e-mail advising a message has been left? Bit late now. By the way, is the runboard site suppose to send you an e-mail advising a message has been left? Anymore and it could be a little difficult keeping everyone together – especially if four-wheel-drivers start coming from the opposite direction. That will give us: 3X X-Trails 1X Landcruiser 1X Landrover Defender 1X Ford Explorer That’s good range of vehicles and if it has been raining we’ll get a good creek crossing in. I will see you at the Toombul Shopping Centre car park at 07:15am where we will head to Dayboro for breakfast at the bakery. We’ll head up the track from there for a day of fun! Also, bring a bit of lunch because, as you know from last trip, it’s an all day trek and there’s nothing to buy along the way. nondisclosed_email@example.com (AussieMINI)Wed, 26 Jul 2006 16:24:19 +0000 Re: Brisbane X-trail 4X4 runhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p882044,from=rss#post882044https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p882044,from=rss#post882044Well it looks like I can come, I know, hold your applause. After much hard talking, it looks like I'll be allowecd to come for a bit if fun. I am trying to convince a mate of mine to come along as well, he has a Ford Explorer, he's a big scaredy cat but I am hoping I may be able to shame him into it. We have both sent of for the permit for Mt Mee, I hope this is the right place to go for? Thanks and see you on the day. Let us know if it is cancelled for any reason. nondisclosed_email@example.com (BlackThunda)Mon, 24 Jul 2006 11:45:33 +0000 Re: Brisbane X-trail 4X4 runhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p882043,from=rss#post882043https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p882043,from=rss#post882043Hey Danny, Thanks for the invite, but the dates don't work for me neither will keep my eyes open for other runs anyway once again thank you and am looking forward to future runs Justin nondisclosed_email@example.com (Big Rig)Sat, 15 Jul 2006 14:17:07 +0000 Re: Brisbane X-trail 4X4 runhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p882042,from=rss#post882042https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p882042,from=rss#post882042Hi Raw, It's shame the dates don't work for you but I'll certainly post again when another run comes up in the future. About this time last year we went out to Diana's Bath way and surrounding hinterlands of the Mt Mee/Kilcoy/Somerset and had a great time discovering 4X4 tracks around the area. They’re mainly dirt tracks that will let you discover what the X-Trail is capable of without too much danger of injury or accident. Furthermore, it’s not that hard on the vehicle (not much crashing around etc). You can find photos from the last run here: BRISBANE MEET UP # 5 (03/09/05) At this stage I have a mate coming with a brand new V8 Landcruiser and possibly one with a Landrover Defender just in case we (or they) need a bit of a hand out. To do this trip you’ll need to obtain a FREE permit which I can be obtained from this link (please get it ASAP): Permit to traverse with a motor vehicle (Application Form) We intend to meet at Toombul Shopping Centre carpark at 7:15am and we’ll go from there. Feel free to PM me for my contact details or more information if required. If you intend to come please let me know so I can have an idea of the numbers. It’s gunna be a blast!
