Re: Stockton Beach Meet-up

Bummer! That's no good emoticon

The next date could be the ANZAC long weekend in April or any normal weekend where we could head there on Saturday morning (early) and come back on a Sunday night. (keep Mondays open for emergencies)

The other alternative is to make it a one day drive, where we leave Sydney Saturday morning (very early) and return on Saturday night.

Again, the suggestion box is open emoticon

Hi Guys,

19th of March is OK with me at this stage.

I will most probably make it a 1 day trip and return on the same day to Sydney.

Re: Stockton Beach Meet-up

Hi Jalal & Shane & any other interested parties.
It sounds like the 19/3/05 is O.K. by you for a one day trip on Stockton Beach. We are O.k. for that day & my suggested trip would be meet up at Lavis lane, Williamtown Service Station at 10.30am where you can purchase a beach permit for the day. There are no facilities on Stockton Beach but there are plenty of trees and shrubs.

What I think would be a good plan for the day would be:

Enter at Lavis Lane and drive down to the Beach - approximately 30 minutes and have some fun during the day with a few sand dunes.
Morning Tea Break
Drive down to the Sygna wreck (a ship which was washed up 30 years ago).
Lunch Break
After Lunch we will head north to Tin City.
We will then head toward Anna Bay and stop for more fun in the sand and surf.
Day will finish at approximately 3-4 pm at Anna Bay where we will have our tyres pumped up and if anyone is interested a cold ale at the Anna Bay Tavern which also has a great play area for the kids.

If accommodation is required we will arrange it later.

Dennis

Re: Stockton Beach Meet-up

Hi Dennis,

Thanks. That sounds like a great plan.

Closer to the day, can you please give us some directions to the service station, as I have only been to Newcastle once emoticon

How much is the beach permit?

Is there a beach area where kids (and us) could have a swim or is it all designated for beach driving only? Is Anna Bay a good spot for that?

Re: Stockton Beach Meet-up

Hi folks.
Went for a short trip to Stockton beach yesterday going in at Lavis Lane Williamtown.A combination of no rain lately, extremely Hot(ouch!) very soft, deep sand did not make driving easy.In a matter of 300 metres we became bogged with others in Hi-luxes,Hondas etc. 6-8 vehicles in all.We were towed out to better ground some 500/600 metres away with no more problems although the sand was still soft everywhere.Proceeded north along to Anna Bay exit stopping a couple of times.4WD warning light came on as we were driving at about 40 kms per hour.Stopped & turned car off & back on with no problems,Travelled about 30 kms on sand on the day.
We may have to change the entry & exit points to the beach on our trip, to Anna Bay to avoid any problems like this.
A UHF radio would be a good idea on the day to make communication easier if you have one.

Have we got any others interested in the trip.

Here fom you soon.

Dennis
