Victorian Meet Up

Many of the other states have, so why not us Victorians???

Is anyone interested in meeting up and doing a day trip?

I would be willing to organise a day out.

Just let me know.

G'day Embi, just scrolling through some forum topics and saw this one.
I gather from the amount of replies (and the date of the original post) that the idea hasn't struck a cord with many as yet.
My Exy is only new (8 days old!) and I wouldn't want to climb Mt. Buffalo in it but a nice gentle excursion off the tarmac would be good. Dave M (I think) was talking about some roads around Blackwood (out my side of Melbourne) and I sorta know a little bit about that area, so that might be fun. I'm only looking for a day trip as the boss isn't too keen on roughing it! (unless I can manage a 5 Star Tent, spa & room service)
Where are you located?

Regards,

Shane

G'day Embi, I just got some mail fm David M about this subject,he is at Taylors Hill (near Taylors Lakes, east of Melton) I was interested in a day trip out in the Wombat forest (Blackwood, Trentham, Daylesford etc) Dave & his brother are better fixed for time off during the week and at this stage, looking at my roster, I have Tuesday the 27th & Wednesday the 28th of this month rostered off. Tuesday would be good as my young bloke has the day off from TAFE and he would like to come along as well.
Over to you. pm's are fine as it won't bother others on the thread.

Regards,

Shane.

Re: Victorian Meet Up

Sounds like a plan. I even have that whole week off. Might be hard to convince the future missus that I need a day trip a few days before our Oct 1st wedding though. emoticon

I did a bit of a trip in the Wombat forest. Some parts are heavy going though. I have video on this forum somewhere of some of it.

Do you have recovery gear, AT's??

G'day Embi, thanks for the quick reply.
As far as AT's go, no, I amfraid I just have the tyres Mr. Nissan gave me last week!
As for recovery gear, just Berocca & Panadol!!
But seriousley... no none of that stuff either. The "Gold Run" day trip we did last year was pretty tame, there were a few washouts and some deep ruts but carefull driving allowed standard road sedans to pass through. I didn't really want to go "Bush Bashing" as such but I have a mate who could lend me a snatch strap and some other bits & pieces for a day trip.I really want to avoid damage to the car so a gentle prambulation through the forest is all I can handle at the moment.

Regards,
Shane.

Re: Victorian Meet Up

Gentle is good. I do have a recovery kit with snatch strap, shackles, and a long handled spade - and a brother who drives a hilux with winch and all the gear (built in compressor, lockers and the like), but have never had to call on any of these. The main recovery gear we use is the billy or thermos and a quiet bit of bush. David M.

Re: Victorian Meet Up

ok....that just gives me an idea of what sort of trip you'd like to do. i have a book of trips outside of vic and with GPS etc its pretty easy to find the way. I have AT's and a bit of gear but unless we are really stupid it shouldnt be needed. I had a bit of a talk to the future wife and I might be able to sneak in a pre wedding trip on the 27th. It could always be a de-stress thing. So is that a date all parties can aim for???
