I mean generally we try to take smeone with us at al times but if we say had a breakdown on the beach and for some reason were to get flooded out or you say (dont plan to do this but have seen it) have a rollover then yeah you want to make sure with your insurance company and on rading this it reminds me to ring mine as we just changed to Savings and Loans (CGU).... will see....nondisclosed_email@example.com (patrick82)Tue, 12 Aug 2008 21:19:38 +0000 Re: INFO: Important info on meet-ups.https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2001909,from=rss#post2001909https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2001909,from=rss#post2001909My insurance, AAMI, said much the same thing but did not limit it to a gazetted road. When I rang up, I asked if beach driving was covered and the advice was as long as the beach you are driving on allows 4wding, then you are covered. So basically... if you 4WD is allowed to be where it is when you have an accident then you are covered. It would have been nice to get that in writing, but I will ring up each time before I go.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Naff)Thu, 21 Jun 2007 11:25:28 +0000 Re: INFO: Important info on meet-ups.https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2001908,from=rss#post2001908https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2001908,from=rss#post2001908Hi regarding insurance (comprehensive) as long it is a gazetted road you are covered by your insurance. happen to us last 2xmas ago my friend landcruiser wrapped in a big tree at yaranderee(correct my spelling) up the blue mountain, few kms. to camping site.total wrecked and a write off ,no problem with his insurance because it is a gazetted road.Gazetted road means still in the map(please enlighten me in this too)but then again check with your insurancce company to make sure.nondisclosed_email@example.com (ceasar M)Thu, 21 Jun 2007 11:08:11 +0000 Re: INFO: Important info on meet-ups.https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p1996599,from=rss#post1996599https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p1996599,from=rss#post1996599quote:gxlprado wrote: Do I need to own an x-trail to take part in trips? I can't see this being an issue and in some cases may be beneficial. Unless of course there is a planned event with limited number of vehicles allowed, in this case preference would be to an X-Trail over a different vehicle as you can understand.nondisclosed_email@example.com (NPC73)Sun, 21 Jan 2007 23:10:11 +0000 Re: INFO: Important info on meet-ups.https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p1996595,from=rss#post1996595https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p1996595,from=rss#post1996595G'day, I'm new to the forum. I have full comprehensive with AAMI does full comprehensive cover off road driving?? Hi John, You need to check that by calling AAMI direct. Don't take anybody's word for it, unless you hear from them direct. This is very important if you do decide to go off-road. A full comprehensive insurance does not automatically cover off-road driving. For example, when I called my insurance (NRMA) I was advised that I'm covered for off-ROAD driving, but only on off-road tracks, not climbing-up mountains where no car has been before or going under water like a submarine So every insurance company would have their own exclusion and you better find this out yourself. nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Wed, 14 Sep 2005 14:52:40 +0000 Re: INFO: Important info on meet-ups.https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p881488,from=rss#post881488https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p881488,from=rss#post881488Just a quick question I have regarding insurance. "Australian Xtrail" is just a web site. We are not a club or organisation, we have no membership fees, and therefore no insurance. If you join in a meet-up it is simply akin to like-minded individuals driving the same road. Your car is your responsibility. All meet-ups are in no way an official or a formally organised trip by the Australian xtrail forum or anybody on this forum. Therefore all risks associated with such a function would need to be considered by each and every driver/owner attending. (this includes and is not limited to the after-adventure night gathering ) I just want to remind everyone to check their car insurance policies are up to date, especially for off-road excursions. nondisclosed_email@example.com (GeoffM)Mon, 31 Jan 2005 08:48:22 +0000
