Re: Sydney Motor Show

Hi Guys,

Just came back from the Sydney motor show and it was great.

I run into Richi and Clare over there and as expected we run into each other looking inside one of the ST-X xtrails emoticon

For an extra $2000 I wouldn't mind a huge sunroof, 16" alloys and a cargo blind (well, I have that anyway) so maybe I could bargain with nissan to give me the ST-X package for $1,500 emoticon

But what caught my attention as soon as I walked in was the 2005 Pathfinder, wow what a shape and look (here me and Richi had some differences in taste) emoticon

I must say that I loved it from the 1st sight, even though we were not allowed to look inside, as they only had the European import model showing.

The nissan guy said that it be launching here in March '05 with starting price tag of around $45,000 for the VERY basic model.

We've also seen the seesaw and mini off-road track adventure of different 4WD's (the exy was not amongst them) but the new nissan patrol was.

We looked at other cars (from the future) as well and I took some photos, which I'll be posting on my web site soon.

All in all it was good and long day-out which my son and me enjoyed very much.

Go there if you have the time.

I have posted some photos.

Re: Sydney Motor Show

Clare & I got driven through the 4WD track in a new Patrol... It was a piece of cake... But I can now say that the dunes we went on @ Kurnell the day before were only about half as steep as the steep "hill" in that constructed 4WD track (which they made every 4WD stop half-way up the incline!) It felt like I was lying on my back it was so steep!

Basic ST Patrol is $51,000 which I thought was pretty reasonable for it's size and ability. More $$$ versions have the same capability as far as off-roading is concerned, they just have more buttons inside to play with, so to speak... I'm not sure what engine the entry-level version comes with (I have the brochure but haven't read through it yet) but there are a few variants available... Not that we're thinking of upgrading any time soon of course - but it's OK to dream emoticon

Jalal, did you see the Lexus concept car? (I haven't checked your photos link yet). It was my favourite out of all of them.

And what about that Toyota single-person concept vehicle?! That was just weird!

Yep, I saw them both, was too afraid to take photos of them thinking they will take-off and fly at any moment emoticon

Re: Sydney Motor Show

Re: Patrol line-up, I believe the DX and ST only come with 4.2TD or 3.0TD.

New model ST-S comes with either of the diesels or the 4.8P, as does ST-L. Ti is 4.8P only.

But get this - if you order a 4.2TD in ST, ST-S or ST-L, cruise is standard, but if you order the 3.0TD in these specs it's a $790 option!

Re: 2005 Pathfinder, at this stage it's my next car emoticon (in, like, 2009!)

This is EXACTLY what I was thinking about when I saw the new Pathfinder. I still want to enjoy my exy (to it's last breath) emoticon

I guess we'll be both shopping around in 2009 for the same thing emoticon

Geez, how rough do you treat it? I hope they last longer than that! emoticon

I'll be aiming for an ST (or whatever the base model is) 2.5 turbo diesel manual. Do you think they would do "buy one, get one free"?? We could split the cost 50/50 emoticon

It's not how rough I treat it, it's how much it can take of the modifications and extra bits I got planned for it until 2009 emoticon

By 2009 you should be aiming for the top of range "used" Pathfinder. By that time who knows what nisan would have in terms of deals, but we could certainly try the BOGOF (Buy One Get One Free) sale. emoticon Any other takers for bargain Pathfinder shopping in 2009? emoticon
