Brisbane Meet up Opportunity (OLD)

Hi to all Brisbane X-trailers,
On Saturday the 13th of November we (my wife and I) are going up to Noosa North Shore for a day trip.

All are welcome!

Please reply to this post if you are interested. Also indicate where you will be coming from so we can organise a meet up time/location.

Trip Details:
Driving type: Easy beach driving at 1/2 to low tide
Tide times = High @ 8:18am (1.91m) & Low @ 2:39pm (0.24m)
PERFECT for a mid morning run down the beach, a stop for lunch and a swim and than return mid afternoon.

Hope you all can come.

Regards

DaveQ

Re: Brisbane Meet up Opportunity

Hi Dave
Robyn and I will be there. We are at Marcus Beach on the Sunny Coast. We could possibly meet the Brisbane Contigent on the northern bank of the Noosa river where the ferry drops you.
Thanks for the suggestion of a day out.

Hi DarrylM,
Good to hear from you. At this stage there is just the two of us however the others still have this week to reply.

The suggested meeting point sounds great. How about we meet there at 9:30am??

Looking forward to the trip,

Regards

DaveQ

PS: Do you have a UHF?

hi Dave
I had replied to your earlier message but it is not here so must have done something wrong, so I'll try again!
9.30am is fine with us. Sorry we don't have a UHF.

Re: Brisbane Meet up Opportunity

Weekend Re-cap

Hi All,
Well the Noosa North Shore trip was great. Just two x-trails made the trip but that did not stop us from enjoying the day.

We arrived at the barge @ 9:30am and met up with Darryl & Robbie (Series 2 ST). From there we drove to the beach access point. We let our tyres down to 18psi (Soft sand beach access).

This was were the excitment began...

Our x-trail didn't seem to be traveling very well in the soft sand. I mentioned to my wife that the car felt strange and that we seemed to be doing it tough compared to the other xtrail. Not long after this we were bogged!! emoticon It was at this stage that I looked at the dash and saw that the 4WD light was flashing (owners manual states that this means that the difference between the wheels is too great) So this is what I think happened - the car had been in at Nissan getting a rear wheel bearing replaced on the Friday, now whether that caused a computer error or not who knows, anyway I am sure that the 4WD did not lock in when I turned the dial (entering the beach). However after turning the car off and than on again the car seemed to sort itself out??

We got pulled out of the sand by a "snatch happy" hilux driver and we were on our way (Used recovery bridal 2x 3 1/4t shackles and 4t sling).

The rest of the day went without a problem. We went to the wreck and across to Rainbow beach. (All very interesting)

Photos will be posted shortly (all going well).

Thanks Darryl&Robbie for showing us around the area.

Stay tuned for more Brisbane xtrail opptunites. Remember, anyone can organise a day out. If you don't mind travelling with others, post your trip plans.

Regards

DaveQ

Brisbane Meet up # 3 (4/6/05)

Hi Bris X-trailers,
Well I think it is time to go bush again.

Saturday the 4th of June we are heading to Kenilworth State Forest again.

Main objectives
- Conquer “Little yabby creek road” loop (It has about 4 small creek crossings and some steep climbs – approx 1 hour round trip)
- Visit Booloumba Falls (we didn’t get there last time) – involves 1km walk
- Explore more tracks in the Conondale NP

Meetup points:
Brisbane – Nudgee Shell Servo (Left side of Gateway Motorway – Nth bound) 7:00am

Sunshine Coast – Malaney Main Street near ANZ BANK – 8:30am

REMINDER: Premit required for kenilworth & Jimna state forests(free) – Please e-mail me (david.cue@alcan.com) for a copy.

Look forward to your replies.

-DaveQ
