Re: "Product review": Rhino Sportz Roof Racks and Basket

Well ... we finally got our baby bonus so I got to spend some money. Got the Exy tinted (just the legal 35% stuff) and got a Rola roof rack and luggage basket. Haven't had the chance to try carrying anything yet but it will be fantastic when we go camping ... babies take up soooo much room. Here's a piccy (sorry about the quality ... it's raining out) ...

And just before you get too carried away with putting everything up there, just remember that it can only hold a maximum of 70kg, emoticon

Re: "Product review": Rhino Sportz Roof Racks and Basket

I got the newly released Rola rack which is capable of carrying 80kg ... minus the 15kg of the basket leaves me with 65kg of cargo.

The two main things I have to carry are the tent and the porta-cot which weights 25kg combined ... so I have 40kg left for any other other miscellaneous crap I can think of!

Re: "Product review": Rhino Sportz Roof Racks and Basket

Hi SpoonyAU,

How much was the basket ?
I've been thinking of getting one as I regularly have to do a Syd-Bris trip at christmas to visit the parents and in-laws and now that the son is almost 5yr old there are more bulky toys like scooter, my roller blades, wife's roller skates, my dive gear not to mention the dog, so even with the cargo barrier letting me "pile it to the roof" in the back, space is limited and things are creeping into the back seat !

Prices in Perth are a bit higher than the rest of the counrty 8( for the basket as they have a freight charge lumped on top, but I managed to get it for the price on their website $232 (that's the large basket, model # LTLCR) ... You will also need a mounting kit to connect the basket to the racks.

I got 5% off the Rola Sportz rack being an RAC member.

Re: kayak holders

Has anyone used the Nissan Kayak holders? I was given a set just recently and am a little puzzled by two of mounts that attach the kayak holders to the bars being able to slide across the roof bars, whilst the other two lock firmly into place. For now I've put the two sliding ones at the back, but I'm wondering if I should take the holders back to the dealership and ask for the more tightly fitting ones? All the kayak holders I've had in the past have locked firmly into place.

Re:

I bought 2 RhinoRack Heavy Duty Roof Bars (in black) for $351 from Roof Rack City in Beresfield and I am stoked with them! The only complaint I have is that they seem to be whistling... so I'm going to stuff foam in places and tape over gaps via trial and error to sort out what the exact cause is. They look great! and so does what's mounted on them emoticon
