"Product review": Rhino Sportz Roof Racks and Basket
Hi All,
I've just bought, via the forum's 'Discount Offers' with Sutherland Shire Off-Road Equipment, a Rhino Aero Bar and Medium Luggage Basket. RRP is $523 for the rack, basket and fittings, the Forum price was $409 - about $30 off RRP for the rack, about $60 off the basket and the fittings for free :-) I checked around Wollongong, couldn't come even close to doing a better price.
The racks were easy to install, and are a pretty good fit to the exy's existing roof rails. Indeed they seem better tailored than the factory racks.
The basket's quite sturdy, and at 1210 x 970mm fits well on the fixed exy rack spacing. I wasn't sure if there would be too much basket hanging over each rack, but it seems about right.
They came with little pads to cover the rack mount points when the rack is off the car, as it is for the daily commute for me. I've left the basket attached to the racks, and simply undo the bolts fixing the rack to the car rails and lift the basket+rack bars clean off - this would probably be best done with a helper to minimise the risk of damaging the roof. The basket's not terribly heavy, but it's a bit awkward when up high.
Rgds,
Ben

Can you buy blank pads/plates to block off the mounting points if the standard racks are removed. I notice the quite loud wind noise through the bars and it would not be the best for economy either.

I would have thought that the dealer would give you the mounting points roof rail covers when they install the roof racks !!??!!
In any case, if you don't have them or can't get them from the dealer, I can get them for you during my next visit to the wreckers. I don't think they will be that expensive anyway.

Re: "Product review": Rhino Sportz Roof Racks and Basket
We bought the car second hand, so the bars were already on the car & I havent found any strange bits in the boot anywhere. The dealer would most probably remove any loose parts that may be in the car when they detail it ready for sale.
Do the covers just bolt on in place of the roof bars?

Re: "Product review": Rhino Sportz Roof Racks and Basket
Fair enough. Nope, the cover just snaps on in place.
I still have mine as I put the aftermarket roof racks, but I might need them later when I remove the roof racks.
They cover that space in full and give you the impression that the roof rail is one straight line.

I went to the dealer today about these roof rack mounting point covers & nearly died with my leg in the air.
Can anyone confirm that these are not gold or silver plated?
I was quoted prices of:- front - $30 each & rear $55 each, thats $170 dollars for 4 bits of plastic about 4-5 inches each, that is a rip off. So I can probably live without these bits covered up.

Re: "Product review": Rhino Sportz Roof Racks and Basket
hehehe
My comment about them not being expensive was in regards to getting them from the wreckers (am going there tomorrow).
I didn't bother checking their price with Nissan, cause I know I would have fainted LOL
Why would the rear ones be more expensive than the front ones? go figure how Nissan managed to price these
In summary, yes, it is a super rip-off price indeed.
Let me know if you want me to look around for these while am there.
