Nissan Australia Customer Service - GREAT.

Greetings all and thanks for letting me have my say here.

I have recently (mid May) become the owner of a new T31 X-Trail, my first ever brand new car, and I have to say that the whole experience has been very positive so far.

Admittedly, I have only been to the Gold Coast Nissan dealership to test drive, purchase , pick-up and have the first 1000K service, but I can't fault them at all yet. I have had several follow up phone calls after taking delivery and they have even rung after the first service to check I was happy. In fact, I had so many calls I was beginning to wonder if there was some fault with the car and they were ringing to see if I had found it yet! However, it is early days and, like many of you, I am not afraid to secretly mark items and see if they are changed. This is a basic test I have used in the past and if I catch them out, then that's me gone for life with the mechanic.

Anyway, that is not why I write this post really. I want to tell anyone who will listen, about my dealings with Nissan Australia, particularly their Customer Service Dept. Just 10 days after picking up the new Exy, (I had done just 480km) and they upped their 'promotion' from free sat nav to a free sat nav, towbar and nudge bar for sales during June. I had already paid for the towbar, but didn't have a nudge bar as the budget wouldnt stretch, but I saw red when I got the email advising of the new promo, especially as it came back to back and was so much better. So I rang Customer Service to find out who was responsible and tell them what I thought of them. Knowing that to increase a promotion so substantially, directly on the back of a previous promo, was rare, I pointed out that I would have been eligible for the new promo if it hadn't been for the Dealer being very large and holding plenty of stock, (it took only 5 days to get the car and that was to process the finance etc.). I also suggested that Nissan, and all car makers, should consider backdating such improved offers for those customers who have not yet had their first service.

So as not to take any more of this post, I wont go into greater detail and I dont know if they have taken on my suggestion or not, but a month of quiet debate and regular calls to Customer Service has passed, I got a nudge bar fitted last week, and Nissan may well have a customer for life!

Cheers Nissan Australia. emoticon

Re: Dealer Experience (The Good & Bad)

Great to hear that you've had a good response Gordon from your local dealer.

I, however, have not emoticon .

When my exy was delivered I noticed that the middle rear seat back had an indent in it. I thought that the arm rest had been laid down on the seatbelt buckle and that (given time) it would spring back out. Also, I suppose I didn't want the dealer to take it back so soon after waiting so long for the car to be delivered.

Anyhow, last month I rang Nissan Aust to ask them how this could be rectified. They told me to go to my nearest dealer (I bought the exy thru a dealer in Ipswich) and they should have it replaced (under warranty), poste haste. Well it has been four weeks now and I still hadn't heard anything. So I rang the local dealer today to check the progress of the replacement armrest - only to be told by the service manager that nothing had been ordered!

When I asked as to why, he told me that they had no history on my vehicle and therefore nothing was in place to proceed!! emoticon I politely explained that there must be some clerical error, because I had also had the two keys reprogrammed on the same day that I was there and had shown them the damaged seat backing / armrest.

Clearly the left hand doesn't know what the right hand gets up to! This episode hasn't filled me with too much confidence. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

PS - Gordon
I hope everything went okay with your daughter and look forward to having you join our next jaunt.

Re: Dealer Experience (The Good & Bad)

New T31 in the driveway and I was happy.
Dealer experience at this point in time - great!

Drive drive drive oh look its time for the 1000km service - in to the dealer we go.
Picked up the car in the afternoon - all good.
Drove the 10km to home, parked idling in the drive and called to kids to come out as I was taking them to soccer. Kids came out and went to the car as I went for a cold drink before heading off then kids came running back inside "DAD THE CAR IS ON FIRE!!!!!!!!"
Raced outside smoke billowing from under the bonnet. But no flames - Phew
Turned off car and waited awhile - no flames and smoke disappeared.
Tentatively opened the bonnet to be met by an engine covered in oil and NO engine oil cap.
Soundproofing had oil running from it. 8(
Needless to say I rang the dealer and proceeded to share my angst with them and suggested that someone should visit me fairly quickly.
Luckily the oil level was still good but a little oil can go a loooooong way.
The outcome was a complete check and clean of the car as well as new underbonnet soundproofing.
Hope this never happens to you - slightly unnerving at the time.
Regards and happy driving
Kenny emoticon

Jalal

When you read my post it says
New T31 in the driveway and I was happy.
Dealer experience at this point in time - great!

My first dealer experience was great - delivery and presentation of the vehicle was excellent. Note that I said at this point in time!!!!!!

However I then wrote
Drive drive drive oh look its time for the 1000km service - in to the dealer we go.
Meaning 2 weeks had elapsed and I was off to get my first service done

At this point in time my dealer experience is bad - no, I should say atrocious.
Had I written here what I think of my dealer experience at this point in time would have meant no more Kenny at Aussie X-Trail forum as my expletives can be colourful.
LOL - no I wasn't

Re: Dealer Experience (The Good & Bad)

That reminds me of when I took delivery of our X-Trail several years ago now...

A few blocks down the road from the dealership I noticed smoke coming from under the bonnet, but it wasn't much so I didn't worry too much., but called the dealership straight away. Their explanation was satisfactory for me - they had used armourall under the bonnet while detailing it, and it was melting/burning off from the engine-bay heat...

Handy to know for anyone else that experiences it (and luckily wasn't as serious as an oil cap missing!)
