Good to hear Rich,
Funny how such a little piece of tin can cause so much noise. It didn't get a chance to cut a little groove in your old rotors did it?

I didn't look, but the old discs are still in the garage. Did you want them? emoticon

Re:

Have ordered DBA slotted rotors and Bendix 4WD pads from Pedders in Cairns. Their suppliers don't have two rotors in stock.

I also priced these at Pedders in Maroochydore who came back to me saying the 4WD rotors were unavailable but they could give me the 4000 series for an additional $15 each. I showed Pedders Cairns the Maroochydore estimate, and they are looking into what they can do.

Does anyone know whether I should go for the 4000 series if offered??

With a seniors discount the prices are:

DBA slotted rotors $159.30 each
Bendix 4WD pads $114.84 set
Fitting $120.00
TOTAL $553.44

The Maroochydore prices were the same except for labour of $90 instead of $120.

Re: Brake Upgrades & Brake Dust

Hi Julie,
According to the DBA website the 4000 series is the performance street rotors.
They would help with better heat dissipation if you were doing a lot of heavy towing but other than that probably not much difference from the standard road series.

Re:

Maybe I should just wait the couple weeks and get the standard slotted. I have so much money going outwards at the moment that an extra $30 just doesn't seem that much.... emoticon

Re:

Got my new brakes today. Pedders Cairns rang when they arrived this morning, so went straight there and they fitted them straight away. DBA sllotted rotors and 4wd bendix pads on the front as mentioned above. Advised me the rear brakes and pads would last another 6months and to get them done before my next trip south. Great to feel safe at last, with brakes that actually work instead of the generic trash I'd had fitted 20,000km ago....

Well done Julie. An excellent combination indeed and I reckon this is exactly what I will use in my T31 when I get it.

Re: Brake Upgrades & Brake Dust

Add me to the DBA club i got the new T2 design for $150 a piece and the Bendix 4wd pads for $80ea front and back... just have to get a bigger toque wrench and check the 2 bolts on the back. My springs are on there way from vic so ill adjust the handbrake and check those bolts when the wheels are off again

Re:

Just for your information:

While thinking about brake upgrades for my GT, borrowed a set of 300zx/r32 GTS-T 4 piston aluminium calipers for a test fit and this is the result on the front.
Image
These bolted right onto the hub without any modification, with the standard rotors still on. Only thing I noticed was the rotor sat a little bit off center but this isn't an issue if you're going to replace the rotors with slotted items.
