*NEWS FLASH** Nissan X-Trail ST-S Limited Edition (Australia)**
Hi Guys,
What do you know? It seems we're forced to find-out the news of new model releases in Australia from overseas sources Before they're announced by Nissan Australia
We're getting an upgraded version of the ST in February this year. It'll be called ST-S
The new range now starts with the limited edition ST-S which has all the features of the existing X-TRAIL ST with the addition of a sunroof, 16” alloy wheels, fog lamps and an ST-S 40th Anniversary decal.
Also, Ti and Ti-Luxury will now have side airbags
"someone has been listening to us about the added safety features which are standard around the world on the exy"
Anyway, without further delay, please read the full article HERE
Check-out the price too!
A very nice Australia Day present for those who are in the market for an exy.
(NOTE) Nissan Australia website does not have this announcement yet! I wonder why?

Re: *NEWS FLASH** Nissan X-Trail ST-S Limited Edition (Australia)**
Hi Tim and welcome to the forum.
What I can suggest for you is to print the article I included above and take it to your dealer.
February is just around the corner and I guess Nissan is trying to move the current ST's they have in stock before the upgraded version is released.
Personally, I would have waited for the limited edition exy, as it will have the sunroof and much more Ti parts which you will end-up paying more for down the track if you wanted to get them. The sunroof by itself is over $2000 in aftermarket and it is no where near as good as the factory one.
That’s my 2 cents worth and the decision is of course yours to make.
I would be VERY interested to hear what the dealer responds to you when you show them the news article
Let us know how you go.

Re: *NEWS FLASH** Nissan X-Trail ST-S Limited Edition (Australia)**
quote: Hi
I work for a Nissan dealer, this X-Trail is a series 3. The power has been revised to 123kw/6,000 rpm and torque is now 230 Nm/4,000 rpm. This is to meet the EURO3 emissions regulations
Wow. More flash, less power!!! Tuff call Nissan. I wonder how would nissan market a less powered exy for the same price as Series I and II?
Also has the power been dropped across the whole range? ST and TI? or just the ST?
Interesting times a head I guess.
quote: Also Titanium Silver has been replace with Slate Grey which is currently available in the Maxima, Murano and Tiida
Good to see another colour code added. Plenty more we're missing out on
So mate, how come Nissan is keeping quiet about it until now and we're only 3 days away from Feb?

Re: *NEWS FLASH** Nissan X-Trail ST-S Limited Edition (Australia)**
OK Guys,
I think I know what we will be getting, having had a look at the Engine Power conversion formula:
Horse power (hp) ---> Kilowatts (kW)
hp x 0.7457 = kW
lbft to Nm (multiply by 1.3558)
I just logged into Nissan Canada and their X-Trail has the same engine as ours (2.5 QR25DE) with less power!
Their engine spec is as follows:
Engine
QR25DE – 2.5-litre DOHC 16-valve 4-cylinder engine
Horsepower – 165 HP @ 6000 rpm
Torque – 170 lb-ft @ 4000 rpm
When I apply the above formula to these HP and lb-ft figures, I get the following:
123KW @ 6000 rpm
230nM @ 4000 rpm (Torque)
Our current Series I and II engine specs are:
132KW @ 6000 rpm or 177HP
245nM @ 4000 rpm Torque or 180 lb-ft
Bingo!
What we will be getting is a North American version of the exy, which has a more restrictive emission control system, it has 2 Catalytic Converters. Hence where the loss of power is coming from.
It is starting to make sense now
As for calling it a Series 3!!! Nissan Australia can do better than that, as it is marketed as MKII (or Series II) in Canada.
I think Roger is to blame for this, as he must have complained to Nissan Canada that the Australian exy has more power than his Canadian version. hehehe
Rich, Diesel is not a cost effective combination for Nissan Australia just yet.
NOTE: There is around 9KW power loss in the new version of the exy. Something is telling me that the "twins" mod with an added 9KW of power is gonna be VERY popular soon. hehehehe

Nope Rich, that was the butterfly screws of the intake
In fact Nissan Canada with their double cat-converter set-up have not had a recall at all since it was released there "touch wood"
