Re:

I got some of the aluminium mesh (in black) from Repco (cheaper the SCA for the same stuff), 280x1200mm.

This was enough for the 2 bumper holes and the grille (T31). To insert the big mesh for the lower bumper hole I removed the grille, unbolted the vertical metal brace that hold the horns and bonnet latch, unbolted the small metal bumper support bracket, and unbolted the transmission cooler.

The vertical brace I moved up, and the tranny cooler I moved towards the radiator. This gave enough clearance to get the big piece of mesh in there. The bumper ones I secured with cable ties (can't really notice them). I had enough left over to do the grille in 2 pieces. I secured these with silicone.

Looks neat and unobtrusive.

Cheers

Re: Radiator Protection Series 3

Hi to All,
The air con radiator has now been replaced and all is well. Having tried to remove the front last weekend, I gave up as I didn't want to do more damage than I was trying to stop. After removing the grille, and taking measurements, I cut a piece of Supercheap mesh to 740 by 110 mm. I clamped it between 2 pieces of 50mm timber with 30mm overlap each side. From there I bent it to form a U shape. The 50mm wide timber is the measurement across the opening. After removing it from the timber it curled slightly, but this fits the profile of the opening exactly. It forms a box right around the opening and for now, I have used cable ties as I am going to use silastic to hold it in place but need the small tube rather than the large calking gun to get in there.
I haven't done the lower opening yet, still thinking about the best way to do it.

This is unmodded with the grille removed and the brand new air con raditor in full view.
The gaping hole is an attraction for rocks and stones. CLICK on each picture for the full size version.

This is with the mesh. If you zoom right in you can just depict the cable ties. I reckon it looks a million dollars, far better than the open hole.

This is the view from inside, see how it forms a box right around the opening.

Hi Guys,

The T31 Series 3 and 4 Stainless Steel radiator and bumper protection kit has arrived to me today and it is now in stock.

I guess I will be the first T31 (Series 4) owner to try them on when I receive my red bull, so stay tuned for pics emoticon

Here is a sneak peak of the billet grille set

Re: Billett grille set

Hi Jalal,
Is the radiator protection pieces available separately or do you need to purchase the 3 of them together.

John

Re:

The bottom one might get in the way of the nudge bar and you may have to cut it to suit!

Re:

That's why I decided to wait before fitting the lower section, because am fitting the ECB nudge bar and don't know how it will sit until I see it.
