G'day,
I did this mod a while back too. I put the mesh behind the grill and along the long section beneath the grill. I also did the lower main air intake. To do this, I used 4mm water irrigation tubing for a neat finish, and its easy to work with. Just cut a slit down the tubing and fit it over the mesh. I cable tied it on every six inches or so just in case, but found that they aren't necessary as the tubing grips on firmly by itself. I then cable tied the mesh onto the uprights in the lower air intake grill.
I made a template out of a long piece of cardboard (probably the trickiest part) to suit the lower air intake area, and when it sat correctly, I then cut the mesh to suit the template. It's a great mod that costs little to do, but could save you time off the road and money.
