Re: Nokia phone Car Kit installation.

I finished the installation this morning and all is working OK. As soon as the car is started, the phone automatically connect to the Car Kit via Bluetooth. When a call comes in, the mute relay turn off the stereo. Here are some pictures as promised:

1) Wiring kit before installation

2) Wiring kit with stereo removed:

3) More wiring diagram: this is below the stereo on the right handside and can be accessed by remove one screw and a plastic panel.

4) Good place for car kit:

5) Microphone installation:

Still have to draw a wiring diagram when I get a chance.

(Edit by Jalal) Fixed the code for the 2nd image.

Thanks Jalal for your help with the diagram from the Xtrail Manual. Here is the wiring diagram which is the final part of this project:

Tin, Well done. Am I correct to think the relay switches the stereo off - the phone sound comes from somewhere else than your stereo? David M.

Re: Nokia phone Car Kit installation.

David, you are right as the Car Kit comes with its own speaker. Check the post earlier from Jalal where you can buy a kit which can also redirect sound to your front speaker. If the Nissan has a LINE-IN on the Head Unit, I could try connecting the line out from the Car Kit there. If you have a look at the back of the stereo I posted earlier, there is a black unused socket. I am wondering what this is? Could it be used as a Line-In for the Car Kit?
Hmm, I thought I had finished with this installation but you got me thinking now. emoticon

Re: Nokia phone Car Kit installation.

Isnt that microphone on the original post the wrong way round?

Looks to me that the holes in the mic are pointing down the windscreen, directly towards the air vent.

Do your callers complain of wind noise or other interference while on call??

Re: Nokia phone Car Kit installation.

Hi,

I own a 2003 X-Trail (2.2D) and it's fitted with a Parrot CK3100 car kit – vehicle was purchased second-hand about 14 months ago. What has annoyed me a lot is the fact that the installers used a relay to cut the ACC power to the radio when the carkit is activated – why’s there a phone symbol on the radio I kept asking.

I started investigating this recently and saw mention being made (guys on a UK website posted pics and a description) of a wiring kit, that can be ordered, to enable the Mute function. Decided to try it out this morning and found the following.

Removed radio from car and took the bottom cover off to see the following:

Image

Soldered a wire onto the "TEL-MUTE2" pin:

Image

Routed wire out the back of the unit (after a slight modification to the cover). Connected mute wire to mute wire from carkit (Bypassed the ACC relay at the same time):

Image

Reconnect radio (still outside dash) and switched it on. Grounded the "TEL-MUTE2" through a 12V globe (just to be safe) and saw the radio displays "PHONE" while being muted as well.
Installed radio back into dash and tested operation with carkit:

Now I'm intrigued by the following:
"SPEED" - I suppose this can be used to adjust the volume control, but what's required?
and
"ANT" - could this be used to power an external Amplifier?

Regards,
Marius
