Re: Nokia phone Car Kit installation.

The Telemute Autolead from Siocommunications cost about A$95.00 (not including postage). I had been considering getting a new stereo to add MP3 functionality and a clock more visible than the one already in the car so with this new requirement (mute wire) for the car kit, I will look around for one. Any recommendation for such a stereo? (should I start a new thread?)

Tin,

Yes please, your new goal of getting yourself a new head-unit is no longer related to the content of this thread emoticon

Please post a question in the FAQ section and try searching for similar threads (I remember seeing similar questions, but am not sure).

Cheers mate.

Hi Jalal,

I got the Xtrail CD manual from Ebay and found out the CD does not have the information you posted. On my manual, under AUDIO Wiring Diagram, I only see AV-AUDIO-01 LHS and AV-AUDIO-04 RHS. Your post however had AV-AUDIO-14 which is what I am looking for. Either there are different version of CD Manual on Ebay or I am not looking in the right area. Please confirm.

Hi Tin,

Sorry mate, the version of the CD you bought from eBay is for Series I xtrail which has those pages you mentioned. The diagram I posted earlier is from Series II CD manual.

There are 2 different versions of this CD on eBay.

Hi Craig,

Here a couple of "damage free" mounting suggestions for both Series I and Series II xtrails which may help you.

Series I Mounting

Series II Mounting

And HERE is another good source for the different dash mounting brackets and mute adapters.

Re: Nokia phone Car Kit installation.

Jalal,

I had decided to experiment installing the Kit myself and am nearly there with it.
I got all the right parts including the Mute Relay for our Xtrail head unit which does not have a mute function. The installation I am doing involve connecting the custom made KIT between the head unit and the car wiring harness and does not involve cutting any wire. If I ever need to remove the Car KIT, it is as simple as disconnect the Kit and connect the original stereo wiring harness to the Head Unit. Costs of parts was about $40.00. No drilling was required as this is a Bluetooth Car Kit. Once completed, I will post some pictures and wiring diagram if any one is interested.
