Jalal,

Although I'm sure for a cheap and nasty $2 item, it's quite unlikely to be perfect.

Noel,

I paid $19 for mine and got it from Target when they 1st came-out. The $2 item in the junk shops is exactly the same brand emoticon

It works perfectly well sometimes, but it doesn't work well when I need it to LOL emoticon

Also, you have to switch this thing on, then press the on button on your mobile, then select the correct FM station (as you would be listening to some other station or your CD) to commence the conversation and I found that doing that I get distracted a lot from the road.

Hi, me again,
1. I previously had another vehicle with the standard radio in it which did not have mute(attn) function. Telstra found a unit which was installed and worked very well. The only problem was that the car had a electrical arial and this unit turned the radio off and then on again when the call was finished, thus the arial goes down and up. I installed a Sony radio (cheap) and that had attn on it.

2. Now with the xtrail I have a Nokia 6230i which is very small. It has the proper Nokia kit and I have found that I can hear the call over the radio as the kit comes with a remote controll for ending and calling last dialed call. This also controls the phone output volume.

cheers all.

Hi Tin,

I found the answer for you and apparently the xtrail does NOT have the mute function in the head-unit, but cheer-up, there is a work-around and it can be found HERE

Also, you can read all sorts of questions that have been asked about this particular nokia car kit in HERE

Hope that helps emoticon

Re: Nokia phone Car Kit installation.

Thanks for the useful link. Regarding the diagram you post earlier for a 6 CD stacker, do you know if it is the same as my Exy which is a 2004 built Series II ST? If not, do you know where I can find the manual for it? I want to try installing the Car kit myself once I get enough information.

Thanks.

Hi Tin,

Yes, the diagram I have posted earlier is for your 6CD stacker head unit.

Re: Nokia phone Car Kit installation.

Hi Jalal,

My Exy have a normal stereo (not a 6 cd stacker). The link you sent earlier here showed 2 versions of wiring for Exy 2004 and later. Also, the site is from UK so I am not sure if the information apply to Xtrail in Australia. I could remove the stereo and have a look but not sure what is involved. Would you have the instruction available from the CD manual?

Hi Tin,

Sorry about that, thought yours is a Ti.

The best way to move forward with this option is to contact the mob selling them and check for suitability with your head unit.

Their email contact can be found HERE

I know that taking-off the head-unit from my Series I ST takes me 10 minutes max and it's very easy, so let me check how it is done on Series II and I'll post the details here soon.

Hi Tin,

Here you go mate, nice and fresh off the manual emoticon

It's even easier to remove the head unit from a series II exy, it seems there no bolts to unscrew (all clips)

Print these images to see them clearer or enlarge them on your PC.

Good luck mate.

Re: Nokia phone Car Kit installation.

Thanks Jalal. I have had to use the Forum a few times for information which came from the manual so it must be time to get one myself. Anyway, I got the stereo removed and here is the picture.

Now the search is on for the wiring diagram to connect the Nokia kit.
