Assorted locations of DIN slots

Guys i would love to know what you think all the available DIN slots are for.

We got:

single DIN above air con controls.
double aboev single above air con controls.
single in passenger glovebox.

So we could put a nav screen in the double, as Jap nissan offers this, we could put a CB in the single above the air con as somebody on this forum has done...

What have you guys done with the space?

Re: Assorted locations of DIN slots

Ben,

My "plan" is to get a double-DIN screen, which includes in-car navigation, DVD and the works emoticon it's only a plan at the stage though emoticon

I will have another free DIN below the air-con controls (mine is Series I) which I'll keep using to store my smokes emoticon

I don't have a spare DIN slot above the glovebox, but it is being used to install UHF Radios (as Rich has done) and it's a good place to hide them there.

Your double DIN Screen plan... do you have any details? I have had the worst time trying to find a solution similar to yours...i.e specific products???

The double DIN screen is the way to go, but the best i have been able to do is to then purchase a single DIN mini computer (now making P4's!) that will then run cd's/DVD's/nav etc...the catch is the interface, best to use Touchscreen (otherwise remote control). Goes for about 1000 from memeory... Nav is optional extra, and requires purchase and installation of GPS antenna and map display software, plus map cd. The benefit though is it had a hard drive (as big as you can get for a laptop)...

I will try and find the dudes who do this, and then post the link...

Re: Assorted locations of DIN slots

want exactly what i was looking for but solves the problem somewhat:

http://www.vdodayton.com/index2_and_fznid=5_and_cnn=MI_2200_and_color=grey_and_status=n3.aspx

also the nav/multimedia solution:

http://www.vdodayton.com/index2_and_fznid=2_and_cnid=_and_cnn=MS_5400_and_color=blue_and_status=n1.aspx

so it takes up the double DIN for the NAV computer and monitor, and then you get the multimedia bit:

http://www.vdodayton.com/index2_and_fznid=5_and_cnn=MC_5400_and_color=grey_and_status=n3.aspx

and a DVD:

http://www.vdodayton.com/index2_and_fznid=5_and_cnn=DV_6100_and_color=grey_and_status=n3.aspx

Done. Double DIN, single DIN, and some secret space somewhere in the Dash (?). You then get fancy and buy two more screens and mount them in the headrests (for the kids...) and then we can all play games whilst driving along emoticon

Of course i didnt look at cost, but heh i can dream a little. emoticon

Unfortunately no. I was unable to get any further information from the manufacturer. The best bet would be if the ebay guys sold this as well, or another like company. Anyway it proves that cheaper alternatives exist besides Siemens etc... ? emoticon
