Re:

Not the case with the cruise control Tony, my ST which didn't come with a factory cruise control as an option did not have any provisions for a factory cruise control to be fitted and the only option Nissan offered, is fitting an aftermarket cruise control to the car.

probably the age of the car jalal.
the fact its a series 1 of a new model.
just a thought

maybe nissan thought about it with some later model cars.

i know its like this with some other manufacturers. they dont think about it with the first one but then suddenly have a brain snap when series 2 or 3 comes around when they realise what they should've done in the first place

Re:

I am just saying that unlike other items (for example fog lights wiring looms), the Series I ST did not come with any sort of provisions to add a factory/Nissan cruise control. All later models came with cruise control as standard.

Which brings me back to Tom's question about his Series II (2004 model) not having a factory fitted cruise control. Why is that and are you sure your xtrail is a Series II? You can tell by looking at the rear bumper reflectors, if they're the rectangular type, your xtrail is a Series I, if the reflectors are the round type, it's a Series II.

i thought series 2 started in late 2003? so theoretically an 04 model should be series 2? interesting though

Re:

I just checked Poland used car market and it seems THIS 2004 Series II Diesel doesn't have cruise control and it's manual. That is very strange indeed and proves that every country offers different set of features with the exy. I have no idea why they decided to drop the cruise control from this model...maybe because it's manual?

Re: Climate & Cruise Control Retrofit

Mine is for sure series II , round bumper lights and new type of dashboard and the model is quite well eqquped .
It isn't from Polish market, it was bought in Germany from the previous owner.

Aftermarket cruise controls are har to get here and quite expensive comparing to used parts of the orginal one. ( For example I can have steering wheel switches for 20 $ )
Besides I like doing things on my own and would like to try it emoticon

I opened the steering wheel and found that there are two additional wires there but they are blanked in a connectror ,

I found two additonal conectors uder the steering wheel next to the fuses ( One big brown - similar to those for relays , and other smaller white ( like those for the radio )

Does anybody know what controls the cruise ? Is it the engine computer or should there be extra unit somewhere ??

Re: Climate & Cruise Control Retrofit

Has anyone heard of a cruise control kit for the T31? Maybe Auscruise?

The reason I ask; where I live there is two models T31 available. Base or Full. The price diffence is near $4,000 U.S.D. So, I'm planning to purchase the base model with no cc.

Thanks,
Scott

Re: Climate & Cruise Control Retrofit

I should have said two models with automatic transmission; base-auto and full-auto.

There are several differences such as sunroof, roof rails, led stern lights, better material on the seats, cruise control, bigger rims, etc. on the full model. But, the base-auto has everything I need/want except for cruise control.

If I had the extra $4,000 I would definitely go for the full model.

Of course, later I would like to try some mods which I've read about on this forum.
