Re:

Strange,
Give it a couple of months to see if the figures are still low.
You've just come back from a freeway drive haven't you.

Re:

The only variation in driving has been that I no longer drive it in AUTO mode and have switch it back to 2WD mode, but I never thought it would impact the fuel consumption so dramatically.

Re:

Now I'm in the right spot.

My T31 2008 manual petrol seX Trail is running at around 9.4 - 9.6l/100km at the moment. I do 600km a fortnight going to and from work up here in Central Queensland (300km each way, I'm DIDO on a 7 on 7 off roster) and maybe 200km on my week off. The girl has 95000km on her now and back when we got her I was getting mid 8's running around town all the time. I run 98ron fuel in her or 95ron if 98 is not available. Just had a oil change with filter and air filter but still shocking fuel usage prepared to what she use to get. There is no lack of power or torque either, just wants more go go juice!

My wife use to drive it all the time while I was working (I'm a truck driver) and she did put some ethanol fuel in it a bit when I didn't know.

Well thats my bit about my girl. Any ideas on how to get her back to being lean again?

Cheers
Stick

Re:

It depends on the type of driving and the load inside the car, but I don't see these figures as high at all.

Re: Re:

The 2011/12 model is still settling in, but for the first 5000 km it averaged 9.7 l/100 km which included a bit of off-road grinding in 4wd, some highway and mostly suburban.

I reset the fuel thing about 200 km ago .

The latest tank full in suburban driving is reading 8.8 l/100km usually, but short trips with engine starts within 5km will kick it up by 0.1l/100km each time.

Then it takes a bit of feather driving to drop it back down to the desired level.

So I guesstimate it sucks in about 50 Ml as a primer whenever it is fired up.

Someone may have the real figures available for the quantity of fuel injected at each start-up.

If so, it would be interesting to know.

Re:

Good ya reckon? I spose its the truckie in me trying to screw down the fuel usage. I thought it was high. ohwell.

The bulk of the k's are going to and from work which is mostly easy highway with a little range to go over, nothig big at all. 300km to work and 300km back with myself and another fella I collect from the airport for work with about 50kg of gear absolute MAX. We leave most of our work stuff out at camp. I do use the cruise control to prevent me getting tickets.

Just to compare; I use to get excited when I use to go from 1.5km/L down to 1.6 or 1.7km/L. Yeah thats right 1.5km to one litre of diesel. I use to drive an AB triple. Big savings over 12 months when you do 240,000km per year.
