Fuel consumption (T30 & T31 2.5LT Petrol Versions)
To track your fuel consumption and compare it with other xtrailers, please use the FORUM FUEL CONSUMPTION MONITOR detailed HERE
===========================================================
Hi all,
I was very pleased to find this group.
I bought my X-Trail (ST auto) in June 2003, new, pretty happy till now.
The only thing that bothers me is the fuel consumption - 14~13, mostly inside Sydney. I was told at the service that it should improve by 5,000Ks, but now with 8,500 on the clock it's still the same.
Does anybody get better than 14?
Thanks,
AK72

Re: Fuel consumption
Hi Guys,
I've been filling my 2002 ST with premium undleaded for the last couple of weeks and noticed a huge difference in both performance and a little improvement on fuel consumption.
If it wasn't so expensive, I would have continued using it all the time.
Cheers,
Jalal

Re: Fuel consumption
I'm with you Mowen in 18 months and 15000k's mine has never used more than 10 litres per 100.
I'd suggest a lot of it would have to do with driving styles and conditions I live in Perth so tend to have a lot more long distance runs with minimal traffic compared to Sydney anyway.

Re: Fuel consumption
Hi Guys,
Today I think I broke my own record for city driving fuel consumption.
With 30,000Km's on the clock and just done the service whereby the fuel injectors were cleaned and the air filter replaced, I managed to fill-up after 580K's of city driving (using the premium unleaded).
Not sure if it's due to the fuel injectors being cleaned or the premium fuel, but that's an improvement of nearly 90Km's compared to my previous re-fuelling cycle.
I had to add that I travelled 30Km's on the low fuel warning light.
I'm impressed.
Cheers,
Jalal

Re: Fuel consumption
I haven't kept a log, but I usually seem to get about 420-440k's on about 46-48L or so... I used to keep the dockets and write how many k's I got (with the litres already printed on the docket) but I chucked them all out months ago.
I have tried premium unleaded occasionally and noticed better fuel consumption, but it's price probably counteracts any advantage it would have (just going by consumption figures alone)
Ours just clocked 16,000k's last night, driving into our street.
I do have a question that may make a considerable difference (as would using the A/C, which we use most of the time) - Do you have roofracks fitted? Ours does, plus some big lights at the front which also wouldn't be much good in the way of aerodynamics The drag created by the roofracks and other accessories would definitely have an affect on fuel economy (as would any additional weight, like a sub-box, which we also have in there from time to time ).

Re: Fuel consumption
I have driving lights, roof racks, and a camper hanging off the back that weighs around 1300kgs and I get 11.91 l/100km on trips.....
The missus gets well under 9 l/100kms on her runaround to shopping and dropping off at daycare.

Re: Fuel consumption
Mine is a pretty standard ST - no roof racks nor driving lights but I do have a nudge bar. Am in the habit of mostly filling to the first click, then set the trip meter to 0. When I fill again I have the litres already to divide by the the kms(divided by 100). Tomorrow I will be driving Melbourne to Albury and back with only myself and no luggage to mention so I'll see how it goes on the freeways.
