posticon They're ON

OK Guys,

It took about 2 hours of waiting at the tyre shop to fit, balance and align everything up, but it was worth the wait emoticon

The new A/T D694's (235/60/16) are on and so are the new alloys.

I got to test the tyres in the wet straight away, as it was raining and the grip is superb. There is a bit of road noise compared to the Toyo's but that's to be expected of such an aggressive looking tyre (nothing unbearable)

Handling is much better and the car looks higher with the 16" and these tyres. They look much wider than Toyo's as well and no problems at full steering lock either.

Guess am gonna have to test them off-road or on sand pretty soon emoticon

Thanks JD, nope, not in this size although the brochure that I have suggests white lettering is available. As I mentioned to Noel last night, I'm not too fussed about it, as it would mean that am gonna spend less time cleaning my tyres emoticon

Re: Replacement Tyres

I'm running bfgoodrich all terrains which are performing faultlessly, expensive but should get 80-100,000k's from them. Already done 20k & no sign of wear.Very good off road as well, as I have used them on previous vehicles extensively off road.

Saw a Blue xtrail with Michellin MTX A/T tyre 225/70/15. Took a photo and will add later, had a good pattern.

i was also quoted $160 for the Kelly A/T also a good pattern.

Re: Replacement Tyres

I have a X-Trail Ti with 16" Bridgestone Dueler 215/65R16 as original with original mag wheels.
Have now done 75,000k but will have to change soon. Almost all country bitumen and a little dirt. I can't believe the good wear.
Thinking of getting Cooper Lifeliner STE/SLE.
Cooper HT are not available in my size.
Looking for quietness, wear, safety.
Has anyone any experience with Coopers for mainly highway use? Any other comments welcome also.

Re: Replacement Tyres

I have a Ti also and have recently had my Bridgestone Dueler HT's replaced with Bridgestone Dueler HP's - the HP's have a different tread pattern and less outer tyre wall than the HT's so, on-road, they give better grip than the HT's, especially in the wet, I think they channel the water differently, on gravel it's hard to notice any difference and i've not had chance to try them on mud or sand etc yet... but so far, the HP's have been a noticeable improvement on the HT's … might wanna check ‘em out … don’t ask me how much they cost though …fleet car, I have no idea emoticon

posticon Re: Replacement Tyres

I have a 2004 ST and replaced the factory tyres (215/70-15) with (after a lot of research) Mickey Thompson MTX's 225/75-15. I spend a lot of time on and off road, and can not fault these tyres. They produce no more road noise than the factory fitted and have outstanding traction off road. At a cost of $180 each who can complain! I won't buy anything else again.
