Re: bash plate
Rich,
There are various grades of Locktite available from a "light" grade which will break with the use of a tool to a "heavy-duty" grade which is virtually undo-able.

Re: bash plate
You could also try some nail polish, I'm sure you would have a bottle in the glove box, or at least the missus might. Supposedly works just like lock-tite.

Re: bash plate
Yes Rich, easily available at most hardwares and auto shops.
Here is the link to the products page on the Loctite website.
Loctite products website
Scroll down to the Automotive Adhesives & Sealants section and click the Download Product Catalogue link.
This will give you all the information you will need about how to choose the Loctite to suit your application requirements.

Re: bash plate
Kev, in answer to the problem of removing the bolt with the sheared off head, go to a BIG hardware supplier "T.Warburton" and get yourself a left hand drill bit. Then use a drill that can be reversed to use. The action of the drill going into the stud, is that it is also trying to undo the threads. I have bought several sets of these drills for various customers that I previously dealt with. Hope this helps.
Another note to broken bolts.
If the bolt is a Hi-Tensile bolt with a broken head, a "MASONRY" drill bit will go into the broken bolt, use a little "kero" as lubricant. again hope this helps.

Re: bash plate
Dear Members,
The T30 bash plate is now in stock. It took me ages to find it again and have them imported, but all good now and it is available through the Online X-Trail Shop.
The T31 Bash plates are on their way too.
