Re: bash plate

As an afterthought, that aftermarket radiator protector would not be compatible with the T31 ECB nudgebars, as I discovered today. The new ECB mounting bracket goes straight through these gaps, as I discovered today when I had to seriously modify my recent mesh-work to fit the nudge-bar on. Not sure about the Nissan ones.

Not really on topic though, I guess. Go those bash plates! (there ya go...).

Re: bash plate

Hi All,
As well as the LED taillights I have also installed the bash plate. This took approximately one hour, which wasn't to bad. It was fairly straight forward, the only issue was that of the 10 bolts supplied only 2 were of the longer size, these I used for the chassis bracket, but when it came to installing the side brackets I couldn't get the bolts to meet the thread so I used a couple of longer bolts that were hanging around in the garage, fitted like a glove. Other than that it was a pretty east job.

Regards
Chris

Re: bash plate

Hi All
I'm in the process of getting a bash plate added to my Xtrail (new model) in Canberra, covers to the sump (which I took a hit to but another story...) and is costing me around the $550. I know its a bit $$ but I dont have the equipment or the know how to knock one up....
and there is only one place here that I can find to do a custom made job. Lot of the 4wd community use him so he seems ok.
will let you know in the next month when I get it fitted what its like.
Leonie

Re: bash plate

Ouch Leonie! That is certainly far too much for a bash plate, but I guess since it's a custom job, it won't be cheap.

Let us know how you go.

Re: bash plate

Hi T31 xtrailers,

I have some bad news for you emoticon

I have decided to cancell my venture to import the T31 bash plate which I have showed you before for 2 reasons:

* The landed cost of the bash plate was getting a bit ridiculous.
* I simply did not like the fact that this bash plate did not have any provisions for oil change and would have to be removed each time you wanna do an oil change. They should have thought about that a bit better at the design stage.

I am currently chasing another manufacturer which does offer a better design, cheaper and has oil change access.

Re: bash plate

I assume Leonie's X-Trail is a T31 - how is his bash-plate coming along? Perhaps there's a chance to arrange a group-buy through the shop he used to make it (that's if it's cheaper than importing it!)

Re: bash plate

Leonie will be finishing off the installation of the bash plate for the T31 this weekend and will be able to tell us how it looks and we can take it from there.
