Jalal:

Any sign of a part number on your latest addition ?

Kindly PM me if you have any info....as I said, given the size/weight, I'd like to try to order locally (as it appears to be a genuine Nissan accessory).

TIA

BTW - I'll try to have a look under mine re the circular hole and see what I can find - I do know that our windshield washer bottle is in that area........

Cheers and happy holidays to all - only 1 more sleep for you guys emoticon

Re: bash plate

Hi Jalal,

Going back through the thread and comparing the Type 1 and type 2 bashplates, which in your opinion had the better ventilation ?

Also, do you think the hole in the middle of the type 2 bashplate just under the exhaust would be a concern for damage ?

Re: bash plate

Kev,

I believe there is sufficient ventilation with both types of bash plates, but Type 2 may have a bit more of it with the cut-out letters at the front of the bash plate.

The hole under the exhaust for Type 2 bash plate is a bonus because this is the part of the exhaust that will generate heat in an enclosed area of the bash plate and force that heat up into the engine bay.

Type 1 bash plate has a similar type of ventilation with the cut-out grooves.

There is no way you would scrape that part of the exhaust as the chassis bracket and sumps sit lower than this part of the exhaust, if you do managed to do that somehow, your sumps will be the ones to worry about rather than this section of the exhaust.

Re: bash plate

In regards to the type 2, the cut out section showing the exhaust doesn't appear to be too huge a deal - it appears that the exhaust itself already has a plate over it, protecting it. This I can see as the plate has a small hole in it (one that was there from new it appears) and you can see some kind of fabric behind there. I doubt the exhaust itself would have this material in there.

In terms of ventilation, I find the fans kick in quicker when idling, but I haven't noticed any increase in the temperature guage, and this is considering we're having the hot weather here now in WA. Obviously the X-Trail cooling system is still up to the task of keeping it all cool.

One thing the Type 2 has been good for is going through sand - the Exy hit a sand pile the other night, and basically the plate made the car simply 'glide' up and over the sand pile - the flat plate meant it slid over the sand with nothing to catch on.

Re: bash plate

Hi Guys

Just fitted the type 1 bash plate over the weekend and it looks like it was straight from the factory. A good and easy install ( 1 hour all up)

Good protection in comparison to the plastic bits currently there. The only issue i have is that it has lowered the ground clearance marginally. It probably needs to be that way to give a bit of play just in case you hit something.

Other than that excellent and a worthy accessory for those dirty weekends in the bush.

Thanks for sourcing these Jalal!!!

Cheers

Domenic emoticon

Re: bash plate

Good stuff Domenic.

1 hour to install it is a good time indeed. Mine took a bit longer because of the aftermarket nudge bar emoticon

In terms of ground clearance reduction, think of it as an added alarm system when you hit something, so you'll know that you're in "danger zone" but at least with the bash plate on, you don't need to worry about that first "bang" causing any damage.
