Re: Fuel Filler Tube Rust Recall

Checkout www.Recalls.gov.au will give you ANY info on ANYTHING thats been recalled.

I did a quick search here is the vin numbers affected.

JN1TBNT30A0 000006 - JN1TBNT30A0 045893.

Yep, that link has been mentioned in first post of this thread and the VIN range has been captured in the overall recall notices found HERE

Book it in Vik, so you can be on the safe side should something happen (heaven forbid) They will be responsible for the delay!

Lander Nissan Blacktown (nearest my work) couldn't do it for 5 to 6 weeks. Then tried Liverpool Nissan, who apologised for not being able to do it until 5 days later.

The service was done today, they needed it for a day, but I've got no complaint with that.

So maybe shop around a few dealers - some might be keener to win your business, and you can guess who won't be getting any of my future (paid-for) business now.

For those wondering, its worth getting done early rather than later, just to get rid of the petrol regurgitation annoyance mentioned by Matt above.

The tendency it previously had to throw some petrol back at you without warning and without tripping the pump off was to my mind a bigger safety issue than the possibility of rust.

Cheers

Went and talked to traralgon nissan, and comment was we have run out of parts, and awaiting for more to come in,will ring to let you know.Takes about a hour and the mechanics have got it down pat. They have found no faulty parts, and i can wait till i get my sevice done if i like,as this is more of a precaution than any thing else.cheers

Re: Fuel Filler Tube Rust Recall

I had mine done Tuesday in Orange while having a 90,000 service.

They apparently replace the tube between the fuel cap and the tank which it is attached to it by a rubber hose and clamps.

The service manager did tell me that Nissan had a parts shortage and had problems in meeting the demand created by the recall. They may have been better to stagger their letters to take the immediate pressure off, or else get a larger supply of tubes.

I found the dealer very obliging and I even got a small courtesy packet with two wrapped chocolates in it.

No. The chocolates were just a sweetener!

Sorry. I've had too much chocolate tonight and I couldn't help myself. I am on the ball tonight.
