Re: Xtrail Snorkel
Hey Guys,
So after reading this long long long thread. I went to the GIZ Taiwan link and sent them a message. The link in this thread took me to a page that had a picture of a terios snorkle but with no other real info.
I do have some questions though for you. When I emailed them I asked for price info on a Terios Snorkle, is there a particular year model or is it a one size fits all?
Also I have come accross a Diahatsu Rocky snorkle on ebay, is a rocky similar or completley different to a terios?
I'm thinking of purchasing a snorkle and and getting ARB to fit. As mechanically sound as I am just too nervous to drill and cut into the body work. If i stuff up the fiance would have me sleeping in the shed i think

Re: Xtrail Snorkel
Just send them this Max
Also I'd check with whoever you want to install it as it will be a sort of custom job without a template. You may find it difficult to get someone to do it.

Re: Xtrail Snorkel
Thanks Todd,
That will help a whole lot. I will send it off to them. Before I purchase it I will have a chat with the guys up here and see what they say. I really want it to get the air intake up out of the dust.
In the end did you remove the factory air box and connect direct to the inlet or did you pipe on to the factory air box like robbo did? I also read that some one blocked off the factory airbox and created a new hole for the snorkle inlet.
Who knows I may just give it a crack myself as i was in contact with Kev awhile ago and he emailed me some good pics.

Never remove the factory air box. It houses your air filter. Without that you will be sucking all sorts of contaminants into your engine. I plumbed mine directly into the existing piping that connected to the factory air box.
Yours will be different though. The outside install on yours should be easier than mine but the internal plumbing is more complicated.

Re: Xtrail Snorkel
If you show the pics I sent you to a mechanic, they should be able to work out what needs to be done.
If you need any more help, maybe my modified template, just PM me your address and I'll post you a copy.

Re: Xtrail Snorkel
Hey Ray,
No company makes an xtrail specific snorkel. The snorkel referred to in the last few pages is designed for a dihatsu terrios which required modification to fit as it wasn't a simple bolt on. As far as I know there isn't anywhere in Australia to buy a GIZ snorkel as they are made in Taiwan.
