Re: Xtrail Snorkle

Hi Guys,

I have spoken to Kev and emailed Dave and Dez. I am keen to move ahead with putting a snorkle on my T31 2009. I have been off road a bit including a bit of a trip to Thargaminda and back with a campertrailer. I have a trip to fraser this April (if its still there emoticon Kiss my Yasi!) And if youtube of the last couple of weeks is any indication i may need one. (dont worry im not going by myself, going with a hilux and a big patrol)

Have a look here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gWYfoN8OBY&feature=related
worst comes to worst i turn everything off, tarp up and get towed through. (Our accomodation is at Orchid Beach).

If anyone could send me the details of how to contact GIZ that would be great. I am having a bit of trouble finding snorkles on their website.

Oh i also found this site whilst tabbing around looking for info its a site comparing inline air filters. May help if you want to change from the stock box or put a filter in before it and shorten the length of the hose in the engine bay.

http://www.mkiv.com/techarticles/filters_test/2/index.html

Thanks in advance.

Re: Xtrail Snorkel

Koobs, I am pretty sure that the Giz snorkel will fit a T31 petrol. The outside angles look very close to being good from what I have seen. The internal plumbing looks even easier than a T30m because the external fender is already accesible into the engine bay, near the air intake/filter box.
A diesel may be harder, I havent yet had the chance to check out the air intake set up so cannot confirm.
I think Kev has aleady sent you a PM. My home broadband is cactus, so I wont be online much, for a week or two.

Re: Xtrail Snorkle

Thanks gents, i have details from Kev (thanks very much mate that should do the trick). Kev if your ever up this way (South East Qld) let me know i would like to catchup for a gander. Does anyone know Nissans standpoint on fitting the exy with a snorkle. My exy is under lease (i will purchase at the end) and only about 15 months into its warranty. I dont want to void it by fitting one myself..... although i think i would take better care then some of the service centres i have seen...

Anyways thanks again any advice is welcome.

Re:

I don't think fitting a snorkel has any impact on the factory warranty, it's the same as fitting a cold air intake where you're only modifying the intake. If any of these intake modifications fail and do cause problems to the engine due to ingestion of water then your claim will be declined of course.

Re:

Speaking of the T30 snorkel, Kev came to my place today and I was really impressed with how well it looked on the exy, almost a perfect fit indeed as if it was meant for the exy. I don't think the Aussie company should bother designing one, as there is no way they can beat the price of the Taiwanese one and it's already doing its job.
