Just 4x4's article

Hi all

Yesterday I read an article in a recent edition of Just 4x4's - it was a review of the new 2005 Honda CR-V.

Apparently Honda is well aware of the criticism levelled at the previous model's 4WD system and have made significant changes to it for the new model.

And how do they prove this? They hold a big media launch in Melbourne at a reasonably difficult offroad track. They start off by driving the journalists around the track in an X-Trail, then the journalists are allowed to drive the new CR-Vs around the track to compare.

Could we get a better endorsement of the Exy's abilities?? Even Honda recognises it as the benchmark for others to follow!

I felt a warm glow of pride after reading that =D

Cheers
Brenton

Yeah, but the important thing is - did the CR-V BEAT the X-Trail in any sections of the track???

Re: Just 4x4's article

The difference between the 2 are these- Xtrail we can lock into 4wd and Auto were as the Honda is on demand 4wd and the system was too slow and by the time it worked they were bogged. They have made changes to the system but still not as good as The King of Soft Roaders (XTRAIL).

Re: Just 4x4's article

I read a review of several softroaders last year and that one said that the CRV on-demand system was too slow, so it makes me wonder if they have made much difference to it at all (or if you're reading the same article I read emoticon ).

Re: Just 4x4's article

Hi Guys,

I've read this in other forums from potential buyers of xtrail saying that the 2005 CR-V has now improved their 4WD system dramatically after seeing the xtrail one?

They wouldn't have lined-up the xtrail against the new CR-V if they weren’t confident that their system has now improved to at least match the exy.

I'm yet to read/find a detailed article about this.

But in any case the xtrail 4WD system is just one of the many advantages we have over the CR-V and they have a lot of atching-up to do, so I guess will be seeing our beloved xtrail lined-up more often against the CR-V in future tests emoticon

Hey guys,

The article that read was in the paper this year and they still say that it is still alittle slow for the sand.

So that leaves us at the top, one of the Mags, has stories and details on all soft roaders Xtrail was one of the best except for overheating in heavy sand work, will bring it up to stockton.

Hi Fellas.
Interesting to read your comments in regard to testing of CRV & X-Trail etc.
Friends ( Louise & Paul ) that are going to Stockton with us on 19/3 have just picked up a new CRV last Saturday. We will see how it performs although they are inexperienced on sand & also a little older than you blokes.I guess I am also.

See you soon.

Re: Just 4x4's article

OK guys,

Here is a recent test run report between the "brand new" 05 CR-V and a "rental" xtrail with 40,000kms on the clock emoticon

Guess who still came on top? emoticon

Re: Just 4x4's article

If you put the crv and exy in mud with the same tires the exy would give the honda a bath, you just cannot beat a locked true 4wd system instead of a make believe one.No contest
