Re: Newbie Intro's

I guess it depends how often you need to fold the rear seats down.

My ST has a Milford cargo barrier which can be remounted so it sits just behind the front seats when the rear ones are folded.

It just means your new IKEA bookcase won't introduce itself to the back of your head if you have to stop suddenly...

Re: Newbie Intro's

Well the options we're after are nudge bar, tints, tow bar, cargo blind. We're aiming to get all those, drive-away, for under $35,000. (2004 ST Auto)

We'll have to get the driving light wiring loom separately from the spare parts/servicing dept (which is slightly over $100) and I'm not too worried about the wheels for now... If I find some I like between now and when I pick up the X-Trail, I'll chase after them, but otherwise I'll stick with the standard Toyo Tranpaths on the 15inch steelies (unless one of the dealers offers to throw in alloys for free emoticon ).

We've got our written price from one dealer; now to pop into another one who has advertised in my local paper that they will beat any written quote, and see how much they can beat it by emoticon If they can beat it, we'll go back to the same dealer we went to today, and get them to go even lower to make the sale.

Didn't put deposit down today, but might tomorrow!

Re: Newbie Intro's

I can recommend a cargo barrier too especially if you have a pet...Its a full length type (Millard?) with 2 positions, forward (requiring the rear seats to fold down and aft position which tucks in behind the upright rear seats. You lose a bit of room but usually it wont be critical. The only problem and there is a photo on the other site, is the tie down anchor bolts for the cargo barrier actually go through the wheel well cover, preventing access. I intend getting them to change that!!

The other accessory I think I will end up with is the rear bumper scratch protector. I tried to cajole a big fat lug of a blind dog (labrador of course) into the back but he could jump and ended up taking paint of the bumper down to the raw black plastic.

The alternative to the stainless steel protector for about $165 Aus is the 3M transparent film which can be heat shrunk on to the bumper and that offers reasonable protection for about $80AUS given you 2 applications ... its the same stuff as the 2 stone guards just forward of the rear wheel arches

Deal done!

Paid deposit yesterday afternoon, and hopefully we'll get it before our honeymoon in just under a month... Still need to sell my SSS first, but I'll drop the price drastically to sell it quick.

Congratulations Rich !

New car, new wife. Its all happening!

A word of warning though: On your honeymoon, your wife may be expecting to be the centre of attention, not the xtrail.

You can now a double honeymoon, one with your wife and take another month just to enjoy the X-Trail emoticon

Have fun.

More importantly - what colour is it?

Everyone knows the red ones go faster, right? =D

Re: Newbie Intro's

Hi ! It's Dennis & Val Here.

Just a brief introduction about us & our X-Trail.

Purchased a 11/03 ST Manual model in May 2004 with 900 kms( demo model). Has all the Nissan extras Nudge Bar,Roof racks,Tinted windows,Tow Bar,etc.Twilight in colour.
It is our First 4WD vehicle, not sure why we bought it, but the Salesman said, take it for a Test drive & don't come back for 1-2 Hours. We did and drove for just over an hour & was very impressed.( Good Salesman ay!) We purchased the vehicle a few days later with delivery within 5 Days.

We are both in the early 50's & I guess we needed another interest in life with the children all grown up & more time on our hands.
Val has lived in Newcastle all her life & I have been in the Newcastle/Port Stephens area for the past 20 years.
We participated & fulfilled the requirements in the 4WD training course conducted by "Out of Town 4WD " over 2 Days in late July.First day was in an old quarry near Freemans Waterhole, 2nd day was on Stockton Beach, what a great weekend, very exhilarating, educational & enjoyable. The sand dunes were no problem for the exy.

We recently returned from an outback Historical Pub Tour conducted by "Aussie Off Road" commencing at Broken Hill, up into Queensland & ending at Cobar. A great trip, well organised, not difficult driving but very enjoyable. The X-Trail had no problems, mostly flat dirt roads with no humps or bumps, quiet easy really.
We are quite happy with the vehicle to date, has it's 10,000 km service tomorrow.

Re: Newbie Intro's

Hello fellow x-trailers!
Just thought I'd introduce myself as I have been reading this site for a while but have been a bit shy to say g'day (thanks for the prompt Jalal)
My name is JD, I am a 32 year old guy, married with a 1 year old son and live in Liverpool, Sydney.
More importantly my x-trail is a 2002 Ti manual, burgandy in colour. I bought it new after selling my 99 pulsar(ala basshead) and have racked up 76000kms so far.I drive it every day and have been most impressed.
Standard tyres(dueler ht's)lasted 55000kms and now I run dueler at's 694 215/70/16.
Had to change brake pads at 72000kms. Not bad eh? The only accessories I have is an ECB 63mm hi-rise nudge bar and a pair of driving lights(narva ultima 175's). I do enjoy camping and driving in the great outdoors and have been to many places i.e Lithgow ,Newnes,Wombeyan Caves,Barrington Tops,Stockton beach ,Crowdy Bay NP,Boat Harbour,Lightening Ridge,Menai and more recently a leisurly drive through the Watagans. I have completed a basic 4wd course with Getabout 4wd Adventures which I highly recommend doing. Anyway enough of my rambling on, I thought I'd better say hello to everyone and look forward to future x-trail adventures
Regards JD
