Re: Interior Light

OK John,

Please post a pic of the wires you see in your dome light and we'll take it from there. If your exy is a Series I you should have exactly the same wires like mine.

Re: Interior Light

Jalal,
Thanks for your note on wire colours for the Series 2.
I often wish I had a service manual for the Series 2 also so that I could include notes for it emoticon

Referring to the diagram I posted you can see +ve comes from the battery and the "ON" position makes a connection directly to earth.
This shows that if John takes a hot wire from the dome lamp and then an earth near the key light, he will have it permanently ON.

John,
To have the key light operate like the dome light for key and door operations, you need to take the same switch wire for the "DOOR" position to the key light.
So take the R/B wire from the dome light to the +ve wire for the key light and take the R/Y wire from the dome light to the -ve wire for the key light.

Re: Interior Light

Thanks Kev,

That makes sense now. Effectively there will be two lights in parallel.

I will get some more cable in town tomorrow and have another go in the afternoon.

It was relatively easy to run the cable forward to the R/V mirror, across under the lining and down the pillar under the rubber seal. There is not a lot of room between the dome light and the roof to house connectors.

Re: Interior Light

Hi Guys,

This group-buy has now been concluded. Thanks to all that took part in it, I hope you enjoy your ignition key light emoticon

There is still one of them available for anyone interested.

This thread has now been moved to the Accessories section of the forum.

Re: Interior Light

Ok mine is in and working finally emoticon

I took Johns advice and found a spare PC cable that I sliced up to fit neatly into the light socket.

I also have the Blue LED Scuff plates and initially thought it would be a good idea to source power from there, WRONG!!!. No matter which way I tried to connect it, the ignition light would not power up. emoticon

A quick phone call to Jalal sorted me out, as I was unaware that these scuff plates have regulators that lower the voltage, so there was not enough power from here to light up the light. emoticon

Therefore I ran new wires up and spliced into the main cables in the centre pillar which come from the interior main light on the roof that feed down to the scuff plates, and presto, we have light. emoticon

Yes I know it's not the cleanest setup, but at least it works. emoticon

Today I also replaced the yellow silicone sleeve with blue.

Here it is in action: emoticon

Re: Interior Light

Following Kev's advice with two wires to the dome-light, mine now works perfectly also.

Am glad it work-out well for you John and hope that no too much "cursing" was involved in the process of fitting it as you previously predicted emoticon

Re: Interior Light

OK Jalal,
I removed the 2 strips, the cluster cover and also had to take the speaker grille off, but how do I disconnect the power socket to remove the driver's pocket ?
