The problem is solved. I wrote out the 1296 code possibilities (a 4-digit number with possible digits 1-6). I then entered them one by one. To continue entering codes after each set of three tries, I disconnected and reconnected the battery (I made up a simple switch to automate this). On the 1221st try out of 1296 the radio came on. The code given me by the Nissan dealer which contained a '9' was obviously incorrect. I jotted down the correct code in several places in my manuals. I have a T30 (2007 Ti). Unfortunately the preset buttons do not cycle as you have described. Instead, pressing the '3' button once produces the number '3', for example. So, pressing the '1' preset four times would not produce a '4'. but would produce the code '1111'. That's why I need help to enter a '9'. Perhaps there is another button I need to press at the same time (like the Shift-key on a computer keyboard) but I haven't been able to find it. nondisclosed_email@example.com (laurie42)Tue, 12 Apr 2022 18:19:18 +0000 Re: HOWTO: entering the radio's PIN and recovering from ERRhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2099304,from=rss#post2099304https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2099304,from=rss#post2099304HI Laurie, Do you have a T30 or T31 ? You should use the preset buttons to enter the security code digits, preset 1 for first digit, preset 2 for second digit, preset 3 for 3rd digit and preset 4 for 4th digit, pressing ewach the number of times needed for the code digit. So if your code was 1234, then you would press preset 1 once, preset 2 twice, preset 3 three times and preset 4 four times. If you have to enter a 0 then either don't press that preset or press it ten times.nondisclosed_email@example.com (Revhead Kev)Mon, 11 Apr 2022 17:43:08 +0000 Re: HOWTO: entering the radio's PIN and recovering from ERRhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2099299,from=rss#post2099299https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2099299,from=rss#post2099299Thanks, Revhead Kev. After I had to change the battery this locked and since the vehicle was bought second-hand I didn't have the unlock code. After much hassle contacting Nissan Australia and my local dealer I was finally given a 4-digit code which includes a '9'. However, on my radio when I press the '2' preset button, a '2' appears, the '6' button produces a '6', etc. The digits do NOT cycle through 1,2,3 etc as other Xtrails I have had do. I'm not sure Jalal whether it needs it or not. In the folder I received when I first purchased the vehicle there is a "sleeve" labelled Radio code. When I checked recently there was no code there. That's why I rang the 1800 number before attending the local battery outlet. Anyway, when I had my battery replaced the battery shop owner put a device across the battery leads before disconnecting old battery. He said this was a precaution in case the radio etc did need a code. After new battery installed the radio worked as normal as did everything else so whether a code is needed or not in other circumstances of a disconnected battery I'm not sure. All's well that ends well. cheersnondisclosed_email@example.com (dlpeek)Tue, 02 Dec 2014 16:26:46 +0000 Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086083,from=rss#post2086083https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086083,from=rss#post2086083Are you sure you head unit requires the code Dave?nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Tue, 02 Dec 2014 12:58:42 +0000 Re: HOWTO: entering the radio's PIN and recovering from ERRhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086082,from=rss#post2086082https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2086082,from=rss#post2086082I rang the 1800 number recently ( option 2, then 2 again). Instead, I followed the advice above and rang 1800 035 035. By trial and error I found that the required menu option is now 2, not 0, and got the PIN in 10 seconds, as well as instructions on keying it in. I was greeted with four options that didn't seem to make any sense to me, so I pressed zero (secret-squirrel non-existent menu option) and it was answered by a no-nonsense lady who went from zero to pin number in about 1 second after I finished reading my VIN. I suspect, thanks to production line bulk-manufacturing minimum cost foo, that they don't generate a random non-sequential pin for each car that comes off the line, so reading your VIN number is probably akin to saying "I have an x-trail" and they give you the pin number that matches all x-trails from the same year / month / colour / whatever. anyhoo, TL;DR is that the pin retrieval still works from that number. thanks nondisclosed_email@example.com (iaindb)Tue, 22 Apr 2014 16:23:27 +0000 Re: Re:https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2076238,from=rss#post2076238https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2076238,from=rss#post2076238"Hello Tony", I now have the Radio Code for My Xtrail - but I will keep a link to the website that You have recommended for possible future use - or to give to Friends who might need to obtain their Code. I got the Radio Code from my Nissan Main Dealer Service Centre in July 2011 when I was having my Xtrail serviced and the front brake discs and pads replaced - plus new tyres and an Air Con Service with pollen Filter replacement. They tried to charge Me £40.00 for the Code stating that they would have to actually remove the Radio to check the Serial Number - I was suspicious about this and I then told them that I wanted the serial Number when they did that - I received the Radio Code FREE - I did not pursue them for the Serial Number as I knew they did NOT have to take out the Radio ! I was told that as a `Good Customer` - having just spent £760.00 - they obtained the Radio Code for Me as a Customer Service `gesture`. Telephoning Nissan UK would not result in being able to find the Radio Code for an Xtrail or any other Nissan Car - If they felt like being `Helpful` the best You could hope for would be to get the Telephone number of your nearest Nissan Main Dealer service Centre and advice to take your vehicle to them to get the Radio code - at a charge - probably now £50.00 ! When I replaced the battery on my Xtrail earlier this Year I found that I did NOT need the Radio Code - although I am pleased that i obtained it. Thanks again for your interest and message.
