Re:
Hi Mate,
This procedure only works with the T30 X-Trail remotes. I have not found a programming guide for the later models.

Re: Re-Programming Keyless Remote DIY Guide
The re-programming of the remote will only work if you have at least one working remote, so if the existing remote is no longer working any new remotes would have to be fully re-programmed by the Nissan dealer using Consult II.

Thanks for the update Shane.
The T31 DIY Guides section has now been updated with this procedure and can be found HERE.

Re: key chip & ecu programming?
Does anyone know if I have a bluetooth OBD II tool, is there software I can get (like the Locksmiths use?) so I can program the ECU for a new key transponder chip? I have two fobs on the way as well and thank you to all who posted the instructions for programming those.
I'd also be very interested in reading any information if I can get on an 'All-in-one' key of any description. I know different countries use different frequencies, and a lot advertised dont suit Australia, but I have found an eBay seller seller who guarantees the part is ONLY for Australia and NZ.
I have access to Japanese Nissan parts if I have the part numbers and the user manual shows a key with buttons on the head, but did we get those in Australia or did all Australian T30's get the key with chip and separate fobs?

Re: key chip & ecu programming?
Feels a bit weird replying to my own post, but I found some answers.
There is software available that does more than just program the key...it does nearly everything Consult II does but only works on the ECU of the XTrail, not the TCU or ABS,etc. It's called Nissan DataScan II and it's $70 which is quite reasonable for what it does.
It does NOT work with an ELM Bluetooth OBD II device, because it uses older protocols. It uses a VAG-COM KKL 409.1 cable, of which I am lucky I already have because my 2003 BMW motorbike uses the same protocols.
But you need to know the security PIN for the ECU! I have seen locksmiths advertise they can get this PIN and include it in their charge. That's why it costs so much to have a transponder chip key programmed to the vehicle, because they spend time finding the ECU PIN...but HOW? Do they contact Nissan, do they have a Database somewhere they can look up, does it work off an encryption code using the VIN?
I know I have the radio PIN, and maybe the ECU PIN is there too. But if it's not, does anyone know how I get ythe ECU Security PIN for the vehicle...from Nissan??

Re:
Save your money mate because the Nissan ECU and all it's software specifically for the X-Trail is un-crackbale and if you search the forum you will find out that's the reason we were forced to fit piggy back ECU for any serious performance enhancements because no-one in the world has managed to crack the ECU and its program.
Sure, you can use ECU readers and such, but anything to do with cracking the PIN or any maps in the ECU is a definite no.
