Would it affect my warranty?

Hi all,

A mate of mine has offered me his high flow air filter from his 200SX which is on its way to the wreckers. The filter is only 4 months old and I am sure if treated with some K&N cleaning kit should make it close to new.
I just wanted to know if this would affect my warranty?
How about (sorry if this has been discussed before in another post), if I wanted to modify the air intake pipe to be near the left hand side of the grill? The current set up is very tight and allows limited air through from under the bonnet.
For those of you who have reset your ECU, can Nissan find out about it and would they have any issues with it?

thanks
VIK Melb

Re: Would it affect my warranty?

Ok Vik,

The way I see your question has 3 parts emoticon

* Installing a CAI should not void the warranty. It's similar to installing a K&N performance air filter and Nissan has no issues with it.

* Installing a CAI AND modifying the air intake pipe will affect the warranty and you're messing with the design of the air intake.

* Re-setting the ECU has no impact on warranty. In fact I took my exy for 50K service "after" my ECU was reset and asked them to run diagnosis on the ECU. At no stage they told me that I had reset the ECU, they probably re-set it again just to make sure.

Re: Would it affect my warranty?

Thanks for your help Jalal.

I have been looking at the set up and am convinced Nissan could have done better with the air intake location.
And the driving lights right in front of the grill probably further adds to this, even if it is to a minute scale.
Anyway I am not planning to enter in the Exy in the Dakar so won't touch the intake pipe. I will put the hacksaw back in the toolbox for now. emoticon

Cheers

Re: Would it affect my warranty?

on the ECU reset issue, it is EXACTLY the same as if you have had a flat battery, or disconnected the battery for some reason.
If Nissan voided your warranty because you left your lights on I think there would be an international outcry - riots on the streets, goverments falling, total anarchy etc...
