Re:
Thanks Mants,
That looks like a very nice unit indeed. I did the usual "price check" and it can be bought for $145 (free postage) on evilbay.
Make sure you chuck a review in the Gadget Reviews section of the forum HERE. Thanks

Not a bad little unit.
Perfect for the occasional and full time camper.

Re: Dual Batteries

So, horses for courses. The portable units are great (and heaps cheaper) for using when able to keep charged daily but is unsuitable for me when I leave fridge etc in tent for days while off tripping around.
Quite right Dave and those portable units take 12 Hrs to charge by 12V (without any extra drain like a connected fridge) which is quite a lot of driving between camps.
The portable units also only have a capacity approximately 10-15% of the fixed battery systems so mainly small power-draw items for short times and if used too long would not have any spare capacity for jump-starting the next morning.

Re:
I reckon it's all relevant and for the price it is being sold for, it's quite handy to have even as a back-up unit. The dual battery system is the top solution for sure, but for someone not using it all that much it is an expensive option to go with.
