I wash it at the "car lovers" type place - costs me $5 since they give $2 extra time at present if you put at least $5 in. David.

Re: How often do you guys wash you car?

Sorry - didn't answer the actual question. About once a fortnight - but then I am able to keep it in the garage most of the time.
Found that the foam brush at car lovers is useless apart from putting on the foam, so then I take a sponge and go over it; and you need to dry it after anyway.
So more recently I have gone back to the old bucket of warm water, unless its particularly dirty in which case the high pressure spray seems like a good idea.
About every second time seems to keep the wax up to it.

Re: How often do you guys wash you car?

Before the water restrictions I used to wash my Jeep every couple of weeks - hose followed by a couple of buckets of water each containing one egg cup of kero (to help prevent rust).

When I traded in on the X-Trail 2 weeks ago I got the full paint and rust protection package so I plan to give it a wash every month.

Re: How often do you guys wash you car?

Was ours every week and polish every 3 months .
Got to keep on top of those scratches lol emoticon
If we are out a lot we take it to a car lovers type place and clean before we return home.
We wash the car with the high pressure wash first and then do the Tyre clean followed by the soak and then the high pressure clean and then a final rinse.
We never use the spot free, foam brush or the wax as we have found these leave a lot of water marks.

Regards Scot & Wendy

Hmm washing the Exy ... let's see she's 7 years old and has had plenty of "baths" during the Wet Seasons and during the Dry Seasons I'd have to say around 7 or 8 baths total.

Had to bath it this weekend however to make a clean spot to attach the new membership stickers turning up next week sometime. emoticon

Re: How often do you guys wash you car?

I get to drive my exy 1 day a week, normally on Saturday. So it barely gets a wash each month. It gets parked under the house when not in use.

But somehow I have manged to get 3 small (well 200mm long) scratches in the polish. Looks like someone has dragged their jacket zip past it. Best chance it happened in a shopping centre while buying more goodies for it.

Now just to work out how to get those out of the polish. They don't feel or look deep enough, to be into the paint.

May just leave them as I will get a dozen extra on my holiday soon. Then get the car detailed when I get back.

Re: How often do you guys wash you car?

Rarely..... But then, they start as work hacks on lease..... and if they are good enough after 3-4 years I might buy it off the leasing co.

The MPS got ditched after 2.5 years, typical Mazda paint chipped whenever a rock touched it. In 62K of road work it had heaps of chips, quite a few back to bare metal, even on the roof...... In fact I think only the hatch didn't have stone chips emoticon Took the dealership that took it about 3 weeks to get onto the used lot emoticon They wouldn't have seen half of it as it was a horrid wet day when they appraised it and it was covered in dirt, mud, road slush..... from the last 5 months.

The Patrol is probably the classiest - it has bush pinstriping..... courtesy of the Simpson Desert, nothing like the dead dry bushes to really mark clearcoat and the paint underneath. Worse even than driving through Lantana bushes (done that too)

Re: How often do you guys wash you car?

Havn't even had my Exy for 5000kms yet and id say i have washed it atleast 8 or 9 times. I only wash by hand unless the mud is packed on and then i take it down to the local car wash to blast it off. I would rather wash by hand as i give it more time to go over it to see what is realy going on with the paint work. I havn't given her a polish yet but once this cold weather and frosts stop she will get a nice little spring clean for summer.
