Re: Disabling Key-in Warning Chime *DIY*

Hi jalal.
When I have the switch turned off (no beeper) the door courtesy light does not come on.
When I turn switch on (beeper on), the light works as usual.
I hope that the Series 2 doesnt have different coloured wires, as I put the switch in the red one.
But not to worry, No Beeper. emoticon

It's strange, as the only thing it should affect is that the roof light would not come-on automatically when you turn off the ignition and get the key out, only when the door is opened the roof light would come-on (while the key-in chime is disabled). Other than that everything else should work as per standard and this applies to the door courtesy light.

Re: Disabling Key-in Warning Chime *DIY*

Hi John,

We had a chat about this on the O'Rielly's trip.

The Timing module controls all the interior lights and chime and has the door switches as inputs. If you open-circuit the door switch then the timing module can not sense the closed state of the switch when the door is opened and hence any operation performed by the timing module when the door is opened will not be operational.

The best option is to disconnect the key-in switch plug in the steering column as detailed in the initial thread.
Apart from the key-in chime, the only other function you will loose is the initial turn-on of the interior light when you remove the key from the ignition. All door functions will operate as normal.

But why the switch was installed in the circuit of the door switches?? The door switches should be out of the equation all together and the inline switch can still be used by extending the wires from the key-in switch plug from under the steering. In fact, if the switch is used in this case, it is best to have it located in the dash close to the steering wheel using one of the blank spots instead of having it sitting behind the driver's seat.

I just followed what Andrew did with his Exy, & the fotos he supplied in his d.o.y earlier.

Dont know if Andrew is having the same problems, with the door courtesy light as I am.

Maybe he is or maybe he doesn't have this problem at all if his exy is a Series I (ST) which doesn't have the door courtesy lights emoticon

Anyone know how to do this mod on a series v t31? I couldn't find any brown connector near the ignition switch nor could I find the 3 wires (red, black and whatever the other one was) near the b pillar next to the drivers seat. The chime drives you nuts!
