Re: what price are you paying for your petrol ???

Over the dark side of the mountain, fuel prices have not dropped below $1.45 for several months, but yesterday (sunday) I was shocked to see $1.55 for regular unleaded and $1.70 for preimium. I was more shocked when the same servo had dropped the price today to $1.45 and $1.50 for each. I guess that are trying to cash-in on the city folk heading west for a country drive.

However, the worst I have ever paid was $2.50 at Limmen Bight, just north of Borroloola (NT). Not bad when you have a 125litre tank and 2x 20litre containers to fill up...and CASH only please. And that was in 2001 emoticon

Re: what price are you paying for your petrol ???

Jalal, my theory is that Thursday is pay-day (or for probably most people now it's Wednesday as it gets depositted directly into their bank account instead of cash in an envelope like my dad used to get in the 1980's) so they jack the price up knowing people have just had their bank balance topped-up...

The highest jump I've seen is 16c/L increase from morning to arvo for the same fuel at the same servo, and only a few weeks ago, too.

I've also seen the Shell @ Moore Park 8c/L dearer than the Shell @ Brighton on Grande Pde in the time it takes to drive from one to the other in the morning (heading towards the city). When I queried the attendant when I filled up (the work car) @ Moore Park he tells me they just put it up as they just got a call from their area manager... I didn't believe him for one second!

For the X-Trail, I always fill up on cheap days unless I'm away on holidays (when I don't have a choice).
