I have recently bought a 2009 "Adventure" series and was bit excited about the prospect of putting in an Android head unit. After a bit of looking around, I took a chance and purchased this "Joying" head unit for about $370 AUD. I also bought the trim removal tools mentioned in the original post, which I can't find at the moment. The CarJoying website allows you to select your car make/model and then gives you suitable options. The unit took about 10 days from China, but was trackable all the way. The install was exceptionally easy. The unit fitted perfectly and all screw holes lined up. Shorter screws were provided. Two different wiring adaptors were provided to suit different Nissan models. There was a multitude of connection options including WiFi and external amp. A GPS antennae was included. Google play was included and works fine, so app install is no issue. Installed Nav is iGo, but there are two other apps, including Google MAPs that are also installed. The touch screen is bright and responsive, the radio works fine and the sound is no worse than the factory radio, and has a three band EQ. It has two SSD card slots and I have installed a 64GB card with all my music on it. Works a treat. I am currently waiting for a bluetooth OBD2 bluetooth dongle, which will give the unit access to all the on board diagnostics and sensors. At this point I am well satisfied with the unit. nondisclosed_email@example.com (Beekie)Sat, 17 Dec 2016 20:25:12 +0000 Re: Head Unit installhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2091431,from=rss#post2091431https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2091431,from=rss#post2091431Very nice guide! The cheap Ebay ones do work, but as Jalal mentioned you get what you pay for. i didnt have any technical problems with mine however it didnt look as cool as a mates kenwood unit.. The price is what threw me off, $300 Vs $1200 or so it served its purpose. As you can see there is a double din dvd/div-x/mp3/gps/bluetooth combo drive (playing the simpsons movie!) up top. It was easily installed using the original head units brackets, with some slight modification to the mounting holes. The T30 has a elevated part above the stereo which was hindering the opening and closing of the screen, but dropping it down a few mm fixed that. As far as wiring goes, i went to Autobarn and got a couple of IEC converters - one for the stereo and the other to convert the exy's wiring to IEC - tis way i didnt have to fiddle with cutting anything, and the old stereo went straight back in (make sure you have the code handy!) The UHF is mounted also using the brackets which come off the little draw which is normally there. I also had 2 9" dual channel LCD screens in the back for the kids.. they were both hooked up to the head unit, and a separate harddrive div-x player in case of child movie disputes. They also had Infra red headphones which was awesome. Well worth the investment if you do long trips, keeps the kids occupied, and the wife if you can convince her to sit in the back! It is a Sony CDXGT470U I bought it because it has a USB and and auxilary input in the front. The USB was the big thing for me because I can use a 160gig pocket hard drive and store all my music on it. The auxiliary input is great to have as pretty much anything will connect to it. It was $190 from Strathfield I decided to do the install myself without a wiring harness adapter. The install was a bit tricky but after a lot of wire testing and some of that heat shrink stuff I figured it all out If I get a chance this evening I will take of the facia off again and label put up a post detailing which wire is which. Basically what I did was use an AA battery to find out which were the speaker wires for where and then by process of elimination found the power wires. One thing to note is that there are 2 connectors which come out of the existing head unit. The small 4 wire connector is for the rear right and left speakers Hopefully I will get a chance to have a look tonight and map out exactly which wire is which. nondisclosed_email@example.com (PMcDermott)Mon, 21 Jul 2008 10:51:50 +0000 Re: Head Unit installhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2007150,from=rss#post2007150https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2007150,from=rss#post2007150quote:I like the fact that when folded away the unit does not look like anything special, so hopefully an opportunistic thief won't be tempted! That is if you prefer to have a single DIN slot DVD player with a flip-up screen compared to the double DIN unit. I personally chose the double-DIN cause I don't like anything blocking the dash dials, but even with a single DIN slot like this one, you can choose to have it positioned in the second pocket slot, rather than the top one. One thing I must warn you about after using two of the EONON products (the in dash DVD player and the TV signal booster) which I bought from eBay as well. You get what you pay for!! and this means exactly that in my case (i.e. crap and sub-standard el-cheapo products which you will throw away into the rubbish bin after a year or LESS) I knew that when I was buying this stuff, as am not a "bass----head" LOL and only needed them because of the coming trip. I will not hesitate throwing them away straight after this trip, but you may do your own calculations to see if it'll be worth it for what and how long you wanna use them for.nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Fri, 07 Dec 2007 12:01:32 +0000 Re: Head Unit installhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2007142,from=rss#post2007142https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2007142,from=rss#post2007142O.K all you tech and audio gurus, would this be O.K for our Exy? The instructions in the DIY section for replacing the head unit referenced in this thread seem to be missing. 2. Is it possible to get the flip-door pocket that the factory models with a single DIN unit have? It was be nice if I could get one of these to fill the dash space when I go from 2 to 1 DIN. For $260 bucks I reckon it is excellent and the picture quality of a DVD movie is quite acceptable. The only think I didn't like about it, is the way is sits in the dash because the way our dash fascia is designed and because the screen of this player flips forward to load a disc, it had to sit forward a bit to allow the screen to be flipped. Looks a bit un-professional but not that bad. The screen has access to a USB and SD memory cards at the top sections of it, so that is why it has to sit the way it sits. Have a look. I have decided against getting the roof mounted monitor cause it'll block the rear vision mirror which I personally depend on a lot while driving (day and night) I have hooked-up this in-dash DVD to a stand-alone SONY portable DVD player I have which sits on the center arm-rest for the kids to watch a movie at the back and they can play their own movie or game on it while my wife can watch an R+18 movie at the front when you pull down the blind and divide the car to 2 video viewing sections. hahahaha nondisclosed_email@example.com (jalalski)Fri, 28 Sep 2007 20:29:40 +0000 Re: Head Unit installhttps://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2004628,from=rss#post2004628https://baustralianxtrail.runboard.com/p2004628,from=rss#post2004628thanks Jalal, Hmmmm, another expense maybe a Christmas present for my self. When I looked at your concerns, I figured the following: 1. By the time the analogue signal is phased out and everything will become digital, it'll probably be the time I would throw out this in-dash LCD screen and it would have served its purpose for that price 2. The resolution is acceptable for the wife to watch DVD movie on a long trip. I won't be watching it LOL 3. Not a concern for me, I wanted something that fills the double-din position without having a screen flip-up.
